Wondering what your LLMD has "prescribed" for you in in regards to supplements, for patients being treated with abx.
Are there particular supplements which aid in de-toxification while on heavy abx? I'm concerned that my body is getting too toxic.
Having neuro-lyme, I was also wondering if others in my predicament could recommend some supplements to help my brain. I've heard Co-Q10 and Ginkgo?
Thanks!

My LLMD said: probiotics magnesium calcium multi-vitamin
I've seen a couple integrative medicine specialists/environmental medicine specialists to help me with overall help, detox, etc.
The first one I saw recommended:
Chlorella for detox of heavy metals, but also toxins from Lyme treatment
Magnesium: Peter Gilham's Natural Calm, which is a magnesium citrate powder you mix with warm water
Sublingual B-12 to help with neuro symptoms, in particular motor tics
Probiotics: probiotic pearls which are enteric coated
I didn't return to this doctor because I thought he was taking a piece-meal approach to my issues and I felt he was making it near impossible to get insurance coverage. But he was very strong on the type of probiotic and type of magnesium
The new doctor I am working with is taking an approach to repare my autonomic nervous system, which is in constant stress mode because of fighting Lyme for so many years.
The supplements he started me on are:
Sublingual B-12 taken with a drop of liquid folic acid. The B-12 does nothing without folic acid.
Vitamin C, at least 1000 mg
Multi-vitamin
Continue magnesium and probiotics
More will come with my next visit. He expects my amino acids are low and that he will add those in. I did a urine test and see him next week about results. He also did a full run of tests checking vitamin and mineral levels.
I personally think it is a good idea to find an alternative/integrative specialist who can work with you on the general health aspects in coordination with your LLMD. That way a doctor is helping you find the right supplements. I know it can be pricey or impossible, but I'm really happy I made that move.

Thanks for your replies! I really appreciate it.
I've only had one visit with my LLMD so far so I was curious as to what others have been using.
He did mention B-12 for me, as well as fish oil capsules, magnesium, zinc, b-complex, a multi-vitamin, and Theralac pro-biotic.
I also have trouble with my autonomic nervous system being in constant stress mode! This must be common with people who have had Lyme a long time.

My understanding is the ANS will get out of whack with almost any long-term illness. I've had Lyme for 19 years now. I also am always working under lots of stress.
But I felt it all kind of just break apart in late spring. I developed motor tics that got out of control when I had major stress.
My doctor treating this believes the B-12 is essential to functioning of the ANS. He really emphasizes that it cannot be processwed without Folic Acid.

For the neuro-lyme I'm taking Cholestyramine, it's a prescription med. I started feeling improvement in just 3 days!
For detoxing other ideas are detox baths, drinking a LOT of water with some lemon in it, colonics, milk thistle, dandelion tea, detox foot pads, lymphatic massage, dry skin brushing. Don't try them all at once!!
Take care, Hopeful4
