One of my doctors told me to take Burbur. Start with one drop in 1/2 glass of water and increase each day by 1 drop to as much as I could tolerate. I bought the supplement from him. It was only after I opened it and smelled it, that I noticed an alcohol smell. I usually read ALL labels on everything before buying, but did not this time. Isn't alcohol bad to take if you have lyme - even if you aren't taking drugs like Flagyl, etc.? The bottle says it's 20-25% ethanol.

Does anyone know of another source of Burbur without alcohol.

Thanks,
Jill

I take burbur and several other Nutramedix tinctures that are preserved in alcohol. I also cannot have any alcohol.

I contacted Nutramedix and they told me that I could evaporate the alcohol by putting warm water, no more than 105 degrees, into a cup. Then put the drops into the water. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Then drink.

So I heat up spring water in my tea kettle. I use about 1/2 cup water per tincture. I bought a meat thermometer at Target that will register a low temperature, and a timer. I've been doing this for many months now, and it seems to be OK. I have not had any alcohol reactions that I'm aware of.

Since I'm doing burbur 4x/day, and cumanda and samento 2x/day, I have to do some planning ahead to get them all in. There are times I miss, but overall have done OK with this procedure.

Good luck,
Hopeful4

Hi Sandy,

How are you doing? I'm always inspired by your courage in using many alternative treatments, and finding what really helps you.

Here is info on Burbur found at

http://tinyurl.com/kgq4b

It is primarily used by us for detoxing and herxing during lyme treatment. After several days of using it I noticed less nausea from the cumanda.

What is BURBUR?

Burbur is an extract produced from the leaves of Desmodium molliculum, a perennial plant that is harvested between 1,000 meters to 3,500 meters above sea level in Peru.

Nutramedix, U.S. producer of Burbur, utilizes a proprietary extraction and enhancement process that makes this product far more effective than any other Desmodium molliculum product available.

Primary Use Of Burbur:

 LIVER DETOX

 BLOOD PURIFIER

 LYMPHATIC DETOX

 KIDNEY DETOX

 ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

The herb in Burbur has been traditionally used for its body cleansing properties. It is very effective in aiding detoxification of the liver, kidneys, lymphatics and the ground matrix.

Burbur is commonly used in conjunction with powerful antimicrobials produced by Nutramedix, Samento and Cumanda. Many health care professionals have reported that Burbur can be used in place of 6 detox remedies.

In many cases a significant healing crisis (Herxheimer's reaction) can be dramatically reduced or eliminated with the use of Burbur.

There are no known contraindications, no known side effects and no known interactions with other drugs when using Desmodium molliculum products like Burbur.

In May 2005, toxicology studies were conducted on Nutramedix Burbur at the University of Guayaquil, Ecuador. No toxic effects were reported even when laboratory rodents received 120,000 times the equivalent human dose.

Some of the reported properties of the herb found in Burbur are:

 ANTIASTHMATIC

 ANTIMICROBIAL

 ANTISPASMODIC

 ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

 ANTIMALARIAL

 ANTITUMOR

 ANTIVIRAL

 ANTIPARASITIC

 DIURETIC

 DEPURATIVE

 DIGESTIVE

 IMMUNO-MODULATOR

 ANTIANAPHYLACTIC

 ANTIALLERGIC

 SEDATIVE

 CHRONOTROPIC

 HEPATOPROTECTOR

 INOTROPIC
