They make "frontline", "K-9 advantix", etc. for dogs and cats. Is it a stupid question to wonder why it will not work on humans, or what is in it that repels the ticks?
Maybe someone in a laboratory somewhere can concoct such a solution for people.
I am (was) an avid outdoorsman, I was in the woods 11 months out of the year. I am also a taxidermist who actually handles dozens if not hundreds of deer/critters a year. I live around ticks almost everyday (high risk I know) and would like a better option than to go in debt on sprays.
I actually have thought about trying "frontline" on myself but don't really want to be the guinnea pig here. I never said I wasn't crazy before I got Lyme
Any Ideas

I'm a dog groomer and I can tell you first hand that frontline doesn't work all that well.
I feed my horses and dogs a product called Bugcheck which I buy from a veterinarian in Tennessee who practices holistic vet care (after 20 yrs as a conventional vet). It does a superb job of no fleas on the dogs and no flies on the horses. Occasionally I pull a tick off the dogs, but considering our property borders the National Forest and deer graze in our yard, an occasional tick is a great reduction.
I have often considered eating the stuff myself, but so far I'm reluctant to be a guinea pig too. I am chucking down a chopped clove of fresh garlic daily and even though I am out in the fields daily with my horses and the woods riding the trails, I never find a tick on me.

I would ask your Vet about this. I have found them to know far more about Lyme than human docs, even some who claim to be Lyme-literate. The only person who ever instantly understood, wihtout being told, how seriously ill I am was a Vet.
I have asked questions about meds for our pets and been surprised to learn how differently they act in people than in dogs or cats.
Many things which are harmless to people will kill dogs or cats. Many things which cause serious addiction in people, cause no such problem in dogs, dosages of some meds are totally different between people and dogs, even when the dog is as heavy as a person, and so on....
I'll bet the Vet could give you a good and very interesting explanation. If it could be marketed to people, I'm sure it would have been by now, since money rules.
