Hi. I know this topic has come up before, but I'm confused as to what to do. I live in an area filled with Lyme ticks (Metrowest Boston). I have chronic Lyme, though I've been treatment-free for a year. My son today pulled a tick off himself at camp. He doesn't know how long it was on him. There's just a slight bruise where the tick is.
I put a call into his pediatrician. Should I give him just the prophylactic treatment? Should I push for a little more? I'm extremely nervous about this because I've had two ticks on me.
I'm afraid if I let it go, he'll get the rash and it will be too late for treatment (as it was for me).

I'd say that prophilactic treatment is worth considering. See Dr. B's guidelines in the online library section for info on what to give and for how long.
He has info in there about what antibiotics to use for children.
It's best to take care of this disease sooner rather than later.
