I am into my fourth week on mepron/zith/art after previously doing two months of flagyl and zith and three months of IV rochephin and oral doxy before that.
Ever since starting this combo i feel feel like i am relapsing, it just doesnt feel like a normal herx, but then again i have never been on mepron before,
The first three weeks i had horrible sweats chills, air hunger, chest pain, but that is getting better now, the rest of the symtoms are the problem, i tested positive, lyme, bartonella and rickettsia, also, could they cause these symtoms
my major symtoms are horrible brain fog, headaches, swollen lymph nodes, pain in back of neck, light sensitivity, muscle twitches and jerks, really tense all over, pain everywhere, nerve and muscle pain. Slow heart rate.
I am just wondering if mepron can cause these symtoms, when i was on flagyl i was seing many inprovements, now i feel horrible every day. E ven on my week off of mepron, my LLMD perscribes it 3 weeks on one week off.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
One more question, does the zithrowmax hit the lyme and bart also. From what i read it seems like it should have some effect.

A lot of people herx like that on Mepron -- it can be a really harsh drug (I've been blessed to have an easy time of it!) Most of those sx sound like a babs herx to me, with a little lyme thrown in for good measure.
The zith should hit the lyme somewhat, too -- I don't know enough about Bart to say one way or the other.
My best advice here is DETOX! I had that hammered into me by some of the wise-ones here on this board, and it is excellent advice. Herxing stirs up a hurricane of toxins in your system, which is a good deal of the reason you feel so horrible, IMO.
Also, with Mepron -- take LIVER SUPPORT! I'm not going to go into which support to take, as some of them (like milk thistle and co-q-10) interfere with absorption/blood levels of Mepron. My personal decision (with my LLNP) was to take a lot, A LOT of liver support, and if I have to take Mepron longer, so be it. My liver enzymes were elevated for a while (I'm also on Ketek, bicillin, and diflucan in addition to the Mepron and Art.) but with good liver support they have returned to normal.

I'm in the same boat(thank god it is still floating). I previously took 6 months of mepron and zith a year ago and herxed and stopped herxing at the sixth month.
I have restarted the mepron for a possible babesia relapse and am herxing with babesia and lyme symptoms. It does feel like a relapse of everthing.
My theory is that the mepron suppresses the babesia so the lyme comes out and you are killing both.
I am having night sweats, nightmares, heavy legs, tingling in my legs, rib pain, sensitivity to light, spaced out, fatigue, swollen lymph glands, numb face, sore throat, and did I say fatigue.
Another theory I had was that the mepron kills the lyme too or maybe the lyme lives in the babesia and gets released and killed too. Just two wild ideas.

Minimonkey's idea is a good one. I was just thinking that yesterday. That with this new flare-up I had better start detoxing the neurotoxins and support the liver.
I think it has been suggested to take CSM when you are killing babesia because they do release alot of neurotoxins. There are other options too.

Um... What surg said! Except for this being my first pass at Babs treatment and I'm taking Malarone, Artemisinin and ketek. (Wild dreams but not so much nightmares.) And did I mention fatigue of a completely different sort?
A lot of these symptoms seem to be new or in new combinations for me. And they all seeem to be rotating on a strange schedule, which I am not necessarily privy to.
Do you guys' backs really hurt?
I hope it's working for all of us and this too shall pass.
I "think" zith may have some activity against Bart but am not sure. Last time on it I began having Bart symptoms and didn't know I had Bart. Lots of irritability and rage dreams.

Trueblue, i get alot of pain along my spine in the back and horrible fatigue, different than any kind i had before, oh and i get really really tense, i think from the toxins mabye.
I just had my liver panel done and it all looked good but i am getting extra liver spots poping out so i know it is taxed right now.

Neck pain, right shoulder pain, and killer headache in the front of my forehead.
I can't believe I'm herxing this strongly on mepron after year and half of treatment overall.

Hey, I just wanted to alo say that when I was on Mepron ( did at least 6 mo. worth) I had horrible neuro syptoms worse than ever before , my regular severe fatigue went to an unbearable level as well,
I believe thats also when I started having odd sensitivity to smells as well, and even though I had cognitive & memeory issues to begin with from Lyme ..they were nothing compared to what I had while on Mepron. I also had the severely swollen throat lymph node/glands .. the worst I have ever expereienced.
I also took Zith, and IV Rocephin abx ,, or Clindamycin, and IV Primaxin, and many other combos and combo IVs , but always zith or clindamycin w/ the mepron at least .. plus whatever else was the abx. du jour.
I was used to herxing during the 16 months of aggessive treatment but nothing ever hit me like Mepron did. Oddly I tested Positive for lyme but never tested pos. for Babs, bart , or the others.
I was very late stage at the point when I began tx. too.The LLMD ( actually his FNP ) told me that maybe somehow it was working on the Lyme too- when I kept complaining of the major increase in cognitive symptoms, which incl. dislexia, inability to remember even a paragraph I had just read, getting lost, Hearing chopper sounds - you name it, PN wa worse than ever.
I assume I just had Babs anyway - as she had no proof it worked on Lyme , it was just a guess on her part.Anyway - just wanted you to know you are not alone I am guessing many have had this type of reaction to Mepron.
I hope you feel better!
On a similar note: PLEASE ..DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG YOU WOULD TRUST MEPRON AFTER THE EXPIRE DATE??? DOES IT JUST GET WEAKER OR .. DOES IT CHANGE OVER TIME AND BECOME DANGEROUS when it gets old.. I STILL HAVE TWO FULL UNUSED BOTTLES I MAY WANT TO USE , BUT THEY ARE way OUTDATED by ABOUT 16 months or so.Thanks for info -Hate to waste them - you know if anyone knows
