Hey guys I am 23 and having some really bad woman problems. I have always been irregular but recently I have had my period like every 2 weeks. Very painful pelvic pain.

I am unable to have sex at all. Severe pain during sex and after sex -that pain sometimes lasts to the next day.
I am also getting this dark brown heavy discharge.

I year ago I did have a cyst when they did a ultrasound.

Could this be PCOS? Endometerios?
Could anyone please help me figure out what I should do? I am really worried
My doc said - go on BC to regulate but I was on BC for years and I don't want to again.
THANKS AGAIN !

I'm sorry you're having such problems. This is the type of thing you really need to discuss with a doctor. They're a lot farther along in the gyn field than they are with lyme.

Good luck!

Heather,

Could this be PCOS? Endometerios?

I just put up a post about Endometriosis a little while ago.

I'm assuming you have been diagnosed with LD.

I have tested with the Bowen and it came back with a high amt of Bb. Have yet to get into a LLMD for treatment. All the Lymies I have spoken with think I probably have had it for a while and I agree since I read an article by Dr. Edelweiss (? it think that was his name - I'll look for the article and send you the link if you want) who discusses all the possible diseases (endometriosis is one) that Bb causes.

I had endometriosis over 10 years ago and when they did my hysterectomy they found I had adenomyosis (endometrial tissue in the uterian muscle that causes huuuuge clots during menses). Your symptoms sound the same, except you don't mention any huge clots. I also had problems w/ ovarian cysts and cycling every 2 weeks for 3 months and BC didn't help me.

I'm not sure what PCOS is.

Hope this helps.

Sounds alot like my endometriosis. I went to a fertility doctor and he did a laser surgery and it greatly reduced my pain, and I was able to concieve 2 beautiful girls as well!!

The hormonal treatments did not help me one iota. Just the surgery.

I think my doc's title was a reproductive endocrinologist.

This could be due to a lot of things, and it sounds like you need to see your GYN. Especially given your history of cysts.

At the peak of my problems, I thought I had the best OB/GYN around. That is, until she told me I had PCOS and adenomyosis and proposed I my uterus removed.

As a 23 year old, I didn't see that happening, and high-tailed it out of there. I found a new OB/GYN that I can truly say is the best. She first put me on a low-dose birth control pill to regulate my periods (my previos OB/GYN had put me on a very high dose that was impossible to find, and did nothing for me). That worked, and sent the PCOS in to remission, and blew the adenomyosis diagnosis out of the water.

Apparently now, I have a picture-perfect uterus that's sure to bring me kids when I am ready. I've heard a lot of nay-sayers around here that are anti birth control pills, but I have found nothing but joy hidden within the right pill for my body.

My suggestion: see your OB/GYN, and if you don't feel like you're getting the answers you need, find another. It's kind of important for some one so young. I know I want children someday, and was extremely depressed when I was given the diagnosis from my first OB/GYN.

Discharge is something you should always see a gyn about. It could be a localized infection or bleeding and you need to know.

As far as irregular periods and periods more often, the easiest way to change that is a birth control pill. Natural hormones may be able to help too.

As AP said, many people do not think you should take the pill if you have Lyme. I personally never wanted to take the pill. I just didn't like the idea of what it does.

But then I was almost symptom free until the day my friend came. I would have such pain I couldn't go to work. It would take 2 weeks for the pain to subside. After about 6 months, I caught on and decided to try the pill.

The first month was horrendous. Felt like an entire month of my period. Second month was better, and now I only have a slight ache with my period.

hi Heather, sorry to read about your problems... Glad you've gotten good advise above.

You accidentally ended up with 2 identical posts,
so could you take the other 3 answers in your identical post, and copy/paste ALL REPLIES to this post with 9 replies on it?

Go there to 2nd post, use PENCIL ICON and copy from there to THIS post here and PASTE 3 responses.

Then go back to the duplicate post where you just copied 3 replies, and now use the PENCIL icon again. Go to top where it says DELETE POST and mark that. Hit enter to delete! Now it's gone and OFF the board so ONLY ONE post shows up; not 2. [group hug] [kiss]

Thanks so much. It happens to all of us now & then. [Big Grin]

Betty G- It would not let me do this because It said I was not an admin. or moderator. . .Sorry

Thanks for all your help guys. I am pretty worried.
To answer your questions- I was diagnosed with Lyme. I think I had it for years but was given that CFS/FM diagnosis. But I never gave up hope.
Sometimes I still can't imagine sometimes having to live the next 50 years of my life this sick.

I will go back to my gyn.
I was just there for my annual tests and they did a pap- as well as STD and other testing.

Once they get those results I will go back in.
I told my gyn of my concerns and she told me with my history there is nothing to worry about.

Hummm I have heard th at before.
Thanks again for all your advice
