Has anybody had experience with Lyme Arthirits or Shingles. I had Shingles on my stomach and although the shingles are gone the pain remains. I also ended up with a knee that needs a complete knee replacement because there is no carlidge left. The Orthop. MD says this is due to eithe Arthritis, the Lyme Disease or all the steriods I have recently been on. I have been on both IV steriods and mega doses of Predisone because of asthmatic bronchitis. If anyone has had experience with any of the above could us please share it. I feel like I'm the disease of the month club. Thanks P

I have had all 3. Lyme Arthritis, Shingles and Asthma.
First, the steriods are the worst thing you can do for Lyme, it is only temporary relief for joint pain and in the long run contributes to the damage to the cartlidge. Don't do anymore!
My asthma was so bad at one point, I could barely breathe and felt like you had poured concrete into my bronchial tubes. The allergist meds were not very helpful.
I went into a local herbal shop (a very nice one) where the husband and wife were both certified herbalists. I knew nothing about alternative care and was just window shopping. The husband and I began talking and he suggested a product by Nature's Sunshine called ALJ. It is comprised of 4 herbs and supports the bronchial tubes.
I ran it by my GP who said it sounded safe to try. Well, within 3 days, I could BREATHE again. My energy shot back up. I took this herb for 2 years. I was scared to stop taking it. But eventually, life got busy and I quit. That was 4 years ago and I have never needed it since.
It took time for me to trust this couple fully, but I eventually reached the point I would go to them first for any issues I was having.
I was on a cruise ship Sept 04 when I developed the most horrible pain I have ever felt. Nothing made me comfortable. The ship's doctor gave me a shot of vicodan and percocet pills for pain which didn't touch it. OOWWWW! I spent a day in Quebec's hospital running test to rule out kidney stones. It was shingles.
As soon as I got home I called the herbalist couple and they gave me 3 herbal combinations. Knocked the pain right out and it never came back.
I wrote down the herbs and the manufacturer and the dose in case I ever got shingles again. Man was that painful. I don't have the info on me right now but will get it for you if you are interested.
As for my Lyme Arthritis. Yep, I'm treating that natural too and having great success. But I'm not doing it on my own. I'm working with a very good integrative doctor. The only abx I'm doing is a very low dose minocycline (100 mg MWF) which is a rheumatoid arthritis protocol aimed at mycoplasma. I don't even know if I have mycoplasmas, but the rheumatologist wanted me on Methotrexate which works by suppressing the immune system. (same way steriods work). I knew that would spell disaster for my lyme, so I begged him to try the mino protocol instead. At least it wouldn't be counter-productive to the Lyme (which the rheumy doesn't believe in). Lyme disease can cause rheum. arthritis.
