Started Rifampin 5 days ago and YIKES! It is giving me gas like I never could believe a person could have. As embarrasing as this is to ask about, does anyone have anysuggestions for relief. I take probiotics(two pills of twenty billion organisms). Thanks so much.

Yeast? What are you doing to change your diet? Also, you might need a hit with nystatin, diflucan or some other anti yeast remedy, in addition to the probiotics.

I didn't have this particular side effect wtih rifampin -- or at least nothing too severe.
Something that helps me with gas is a homeopathic remedy called Carbo Vegetalis. If you have a Whole Foods or other health food store near you, you can ask about this.
For me, these products help a lot more than anything else!
Hope this helps!

My daughter had that, too. It lasted about a month. I know we tackled it from a yeast perspective. Diflucan helped, along with the probiotics. A good detox tea helped, as well.
Last night we realized that her stomach problems aren't there, we couldn't pinpoint when they started getting better. Just be patient and diligent with the yeast and detox issue.

Yes, it seems to be an adjustment period. It is an active antibiotic, though.
