well despite all tests coming back normal. i made an appt with a llmd in ct for september. i have a friend who prescribed me doxy 100 mg twice a day for thirty days until i see the llmd.
don't know if the doage will be strong enough but i don't want to start a host of abx until i see the llmd. i still have a eng scheduled for next week, i'll go, won't kill me to rule out a vestibular disorder.
since i feel like this has been going on for a bout two months i'm curious how many other's have symptoms that come and go? i use to have vertigo and eye problems, they've gone away, now arm weakness, back pain and muscle cramps have appeared. i could deal with these things, the brain fog and just having no motivation to do anything is what really bothers me. still having bouts of insomina, i wake up every a.nm. at 3 a.m. and can't get back to sleep.
this would of been much easier if i had a rash. my pcp wouldn't prescribe me anything as i had no rash and tested negative. of course i tested negative after a five day course of zpac which actually started me feeling better.
well i guess i'll see what the doxy does. my next neuro appt is sept. 5th so if i don't feel better by then, lumbar puncture and tspine mri.
aaahhhhhhh karen

I am glad that you are seeing a llmd.
I personally couldnt take doxy due to stomach issues. It can be hard on your stomach.
Also I don't know if you were warned but you should stay out of the sun when you are on doxy.
It can create very bad sunburns. If you have to go outside I would cover up.
Yes some of my symptoms would come and go - especially in the first 13 years. I believe it is very common for symptoms to come and go.

Hello FPnurse,
I'm glad you were able to get some doxy.
Please read Dr. B's treatment guidelines for the correct dosage for adults.
Stay inside as much as you can.
Sunblock didn't prevent the sunburn. I was sensitive to the sun for at least 2 weeks after discontinuing the doxy. A pharmacist said sun sensitivity should last one week after discontinuing the medicine.
Betty G said rubbing the rash with alcohol will help if it's itchy. I smeared fresh aloe plant juice on my sunburn. It helped.
Take care.

I had the guidelines sitting out. You're right, Nancy.
Dr. B recommends:
*Doxycycline= Adults: 200mg twice a day with food, doses of up to 600mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels. Not for children or in pregnancy.
*=Always check blood levels and adjust dose to achieve peak level above ten and a trough greater than three.
