I was wondering if anyone has tried a low dose thyroid medication even though your thyroid tests are completely normal.My endocrinologist gave me 25mg of unithroid. He said it might help with some of the fatigue. My only concern is that one of my worst symptoms from lyme is anxiety and I am worried that it might make it worse.

Hi, I recently started low dose thyroid treatment despite a normal TSH.
I do have a diagnosis of Hashimotos hypothyrodism, and at one point my thyroid was not functioning. So for many years, before my lyme diagnosis, I was on a full replacement doses of thyroid medication.
I can understand your hesitation about starting thyroid medication. Anxiety has been one of my most troubling symptoms. In 2003-2004 I was on levoxyl 25 mcg. The levoxyl actually helped with anxiety and insomnia. I had nice deep restorative sleep.
I stopped the levoxyl in 2004 when I developed tachycardia due to other reasons.
I recently had my thyroid checked again, and although the labs were normal according to the reference range, they were not in the optimal range. So I started on Levoxyl 25 mcg every other day. This dose made me jittery.I reduced the dose to 12.5 mcg a day.
The jitterness in my case was not due to excess thryoid hormone but to low ferritin and weak adrenals. I still need the thryoid hormone, so we are working on strenghting my adrenals and supplementing with iron.
You may want to talk with your doctor about starting at a lower dose of unithroid and increasing it gradually. If you do feel jittery, I would recommend checking your ferritin and supporting your adrenals with vitamins/herbs.

How much armour are you taking and was anxiety one of your problems as well. It seems to me that anxiety is my most debilitating symptom. I was on lexapro for about 2 years and it stopped working so I decided to taper off. It has been 1 month now with no lexapro but I don't know how much longer I can go without going back on it. I was really hoping that I didn't need it any longer, it was the only antidepressant that worked at all for my anxiety, and I was happy to be side effect free for a while.
