Whenever I get a nighttime calf cramp(not the foot cramps) within a few minutes it is followed by this feeling of total malaise(almost like a sweaty weak feeling) and I need to lie down. However, it is not possible to calmly lie down in the middle of a painful, long lasting calf cramp!!!! Anyone else get this feeling of malaise with their calf cramps???? It feels like your going to die, it's usually that bad!

Welcome pg,

I have restless leg syndrome discovered when I had my sleep study done; yep, for apnea too.

I have calf cramps a lot but NOT like you discuss.

Also, when you get the hurting pain from hell, try this;

pinch your thumb & index/1st finger together REALLY TIGHT & HARD; it's supposed to help reduce the pain and stop it!

I have used it with 50% good results; but when you have excruciating pain; it's hard to remain calm & concentrate on this procedure .... read it in Dear Abby once! good luck. Bettyg [Big Grin]

I get muscle cramps a lot, magnesium helps. Not one big dose but smaller doses evenly spread thru your waking hours (and not too close to some meds, usually specified in the pharm lit).

I have been awakened at night by calf cramps where the pain carry overs to the next day and makes it hard to walk sometimes.

I take magnesium, eat a banana, and I am supposed to do stretching exercises-but I often forget these. The pain is a great motivator for me to remember to follow dr.'s orders!
