i have been under treatment for lymes/babesia/bartonella now for 1 1/2 years. i have a white coating on my tongue that i assumed was yeast.

however, i have been to 2 doctors (one a LLENT)and they both said that it did not look like yeast and was not worth treating.

the LLENT actually suggested that the biaxin i was on was causing the changes in my tongue, but i was only taking biaxin 3 days out of the month.

has anyone had this and knows what it is? or is it truly yeast despite the fact that the doctors say it doesn't look like yeast?

If it is thrush, there would be a wierd coating in your entire mouth (i think) not just your tongue. When I had thrush (yeast in mouth), it felt like skin was sloughing off and there was a wierd white coating in all my mouth.

I'm experiencing this too after being on doxy for a month.

I thought it was from die-off from nystatin until I discovered nystatin doesn't clean the bloodstream, only the gut.

So I'm puzzled too.

Maybe I'll open a capsule and put it on the back of my tongue and see if it goes away.

Tea tree oil mouthwash is good for this too.

THAT WAS A SILLY THING FOR THE LLENT TO SAY.
yeast can come in all sizes colors shapes and tastes.
all he had do to was swab it to get a definative answer.
if it is yeast is does not have to be generalized in the mouth but can be specific to the tongue. people that have long papilla(taste buds) on their tongue get iit on the posyterior aspect of the tongue ,where the tongue is hairiest.
Most yeast infections of the mouth have a metallic taste to it when you it like zinc or tin, and is quite anoying.
thrush is a total yeast infection of the entire mouth and is rarer than just tongue yeast. Usually trush or ANUG acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis is a yeast infection brought on by high levels of stress in and to the body. Many college students at test time get thrush.
oral mycolex troches are used to treat oral and vfend or diflucan for systemic or difficult yeast.
when i get it on my tongue, i actually take a small new bikini razor 3 for $3.00 at the drug store. it is half the width of a regular razor and i actually shave the heavy papilla on the back of my tongue. also tongue scapers and brushing with a new yeast specific toothbrush is very important.
if you smoke quit smoking.
if not yeast then many abx can discolor teeth, gums and tongue, but a simple swab and culture will tell for sure.

Hi,

Most doctors except for LLMD's and a few other special individuals do not know how to treat yeast let alone diagnose it. Go to your LLMD and ask him what he thinks it is. A simple and effective thing that you could try to test to see if what you have is really yeast is Dr. Burrascano's yeast protocol. Find a copy of his latest Guidelines for treating Lyme and it will be in there. Good Luck to you.

Take Care,
K-lyme

[hi]
I am not on treatment.
Yet non stop thick coating which my Dr. when tell him never even looks at.
Dentist ordered Diflucan.
Has not worked or my probiotics or other things that used to.
Bad enough been living in non stop nausea, now this crud will not leave.

Have you done 1st thing in morn. spit test.

Usually pretty accurate.

Used to pass it OK.
Have not for long time.
So simple.....

It sounds like yeast not sure what else can be??

We are lucky to get any attention for something as severe as Chronic Lyme/FM/CFIDS/etc.
Non stop illness & pain & fatigue.

Still many of us get ignored.

Wonder why some go into practice????

If I had patient with questions I could not answer or figure out, went right to research.

Have been going to my doc for 5 yrs., only 1 on list who believes in Lyme/FM/etc. No Choice.

He never has 1 word to add, I am not his only patient with these DD`s.
GO Figure.
Guess can be same for diff. type of yeast infections.
Take Care,
[group hug] Kerry

thanks for the replies. i'll have to try the spit test. i have heard about it before but had forgot about it and never tried it.

if it is positive, i don't know what i'll do cause the diflucan doesn't work on me either.

Marz,

When I was on Doxy, I got this weird white build-up on the backs of my teeth - my dental hygienist said it looked like my teeth had sweaters on. She said it was major plaque build-up.

I'm the daughter of a dentist and never had dental problems.

I asked my Lyme doc and he said it's from the Doxy. I had to start getting my teeth cleaned every three months.

Another Lyme pal had the same reaction to Doxy.

I still go for more frequent teeth cleanings on any antibiotics but Doxy was by far the worst.

I realize this doesn't address the tongue issue, but just wanted to give you the heads-up about Doxy and tooth plaque.

Hey guys,

ALL OF YOU who think you might have a yeast problem, FORGET the test (which by the way isn't always accurate) and put yourselves on Dr. Burrascano's yeast protocol. Find a copy of his 2005 guidelines and it will be in there. TRUST ME, it works!!

take care,
K-lyme
