I have been on various abx and various combinations for about 10 months now. My symptoms slowly have improved from couch-bound to 3 mile hikes. That is the good news. The discouraging news is that some of my symptoms have returned in the past month. It may be due to recent stress - although after losing my job in May, my lyme symptoms improved. Although unemployed, I have been traveling alot and my husband is away for a month to train for a new job, we are also selling our house and moving, and last month I started getting anxiety & had palpitations (related to Biaxin?)..... I guess on the Stress-O-meter that qualifies. In any case, is this unusual to have a relapse after several months of feeling good?? Has anybody else been on antibiotics for almost a year? I though we caught my lyme early (eg. around 6 weeks, during the flu like illness)...and that shortens the liklihood of lengthy illness. I guess compared to others on here, a year is not lengthy!!!!!!!
thanks!

Jennifer, this happens a lot to many folks here.

I was on ABX for 18 months until new LLMD took me off them 4-06 when I was having complete body labs done & needed to be OFF ABX for some of them.

STRESS is your big culprit, sp, with selling your home, moving, hubby away, etc. and dealing with chronic lyme disease.

Last Nov. 05, I had panic attacks so went on pills, XANAX, for them; needed them for 3-5 months. Not used any in several months now.

Good luck on getting things ready for the move. Ask friends/relatives for their help so you're not doing it all. Best wishes to you.

hi ecowoman

Stress can do me in faster than anything and can cause relaspe in lyme.

Mant times durning treatment X 3 years for my last relapse.

In the past I have hit a wall or back slided with symptoms.

Are you still on meds?

Might have to re-thinking your current treatment, adjustment in supps ect..

I hope you can cut down in the stress department or find a way to relax more.

Maybe yogi or meditation?

Unfortunately there is no way to tell, no matter how quickly you "caught the lyme

weather after X amount of treatment months if you got all the ketes.

You may want to think about the co's. That to can cause heart symptoms. Have you been treated for the co's?

many get treated regaurdless of the test results. There are over 100 different strains of babs but only tests for 2 of them.

Have you had a heart work-up yet ?

Hope you can get feeling better soon

amke sure to talk over everything first with your LLMD

It's is quite common. My symptoms always flair up when I'm under a great deal of stress, even while on antibiotics. The flairs become less severe with time.

The appearance of new symptoms doesn't always mean its a relapse.

It could mean you need to switch abx, or that they arent working anymore, or that there is an underlying coinfection that is creeping up now that the lyme has been beaten down.

It does *sound* like you *may* have babesia. Has that been treated?

I have been on abx for over 3 years, and was one year into being sick when bitten.

I hope this all gets better for you. I was on biaxin for 6 months and when I became sensitive to it- not a true allergy- but on my way, it began to give me heart palps.

All good advice. Stress can indeed cause problems for us!!

It would be good to get checked out for babesia. It can often surface after the Lyme is under control.
