Yes, I take Cymbalta for nerve pain and it works great for me. I take the full dose 60mgs/day and it has taken this pain away about 90%.
I had the nerve pain in my toes first and then over the past year it spread up to my waist. I am still not an official Lymie yet but, that will be soon to come.

If you don't take this drug, what do you take that helps?

Foggy, I haven't really noticed any side effects. It works well for depression as well.
Neurontin really zonked me out....couldn't take it at all.

I wonder how it works for people who have both depression and anxiety.

I take 60 mgs daily for nerve pain - it seems to help. Doesn't make it go away completely, but definitely makes it more tolerable.
I haven't noticed any intolerable side effects of Cymbalta. Couldn't handle neurontin, topamax, amitrytiline (sp?) or many of the others that have been tossed my way over the past 6 years of nerve pain, but Cymbalta's working out well.
Not sure if the nerve pain is subsiding due to my abx treatment or the Cymbalta, as I started both at the same time (little over a year ago).
Personally, I like any "happy" side effects - so it's ok with me that it's also an anti-depressant!

Nal,
Our dr. informed us that something like 2% of Cymbalta users have the side effect of suicidal thoughts and agressive tendencies.
My advice from experience would be to start slowly and just watch out for the above. You statistically should not be in that 2%, but we here seem to have all the luck.

My husband is taking an unbelievably high dose of Cymbalta - 120 mgs daily. His previous LLMD believed that it would help with some of his neuro symptoms including his twitching and jerking.
Those are tolerable now and he doesn't seem to be having any adverse effects from the dose.
However, since he's recently changed to a new LLMD, I'm not sure if the new doc will want to lower his dose.

Im glad to hear this drug is at least helping a few people here. I may still consider it when I see my LMD next month again.

I considered taking this. Have heard the results are great .... decrease in pain, decrease in depression. Both things many of us need. However, I have heard it is a very difficult to stop taking.
Many have a very difficult time when the want/need to stop. Google the drug and read some of the stories.
Just thought I'd round out the picture here.
I decided against it.

I am on 60mg of Cymbalta daily (you start out at 30mg a day for one week and then up the dose). It has helped me tremendously.
I was having serious problems with walking before I got on it. I had also started having really weird panic attacks for the first time in my life, and haven't had any since starting on Cymbalta.
I also tried Lyrica, but it did not help, so I went back to Cymbalta.
The only side effect that I got was a big bummer -- weight gain.
