It seems that the amounts people are taking are varying quite a bit. How much are you taking and how well does that seem to be working? I take 1.2 MU three times a week and have continued to do pretty well. Thanks.

David --

Are you able to get bicillin right now? No one here, even the specialty pharmacies, seems to be able to get it.

I've been on 2.4 m u a week for some time now (along with other meds), and have been doing well on it. I was doing the 1.2 shots 2x/week, and this last batch had to switch to the 2.4 shots (OUCH!!!) once a week. Now I can't even get those. I'd love to stay on it if possible.

I started at 1 shot (1.2) for 2 weeks and then have done 2 shots a week for 3 months. I haven't noticed any improvement on them, as far as I can tell anyways. I was taking Biaxin XL and Tini at the same time.

I think that it is important to take a macroloid with a penicillin to pick up the L forms (or Blebs or pleomorphed keets) that some of the Bb can change into when exposed to a penicillin or cephalosporin. 3 shots might be better, but I am not willing to do more than 2 a week. I don't think that my butt would ever heal if I did that many! [Smile]

I have been on one shot of 1.2 mu weekly since February.

That is not holding my lyme back, so it was just upped to 2 shots weekly.

My LLMD said he would not hesitate to up it to 3 shots per week.

I weigh 124 lbs.

I also have longstanding C. diffile (since December) so I cannot take oral antibiotics.

Minimonkey, PM sent.

To respond to porsche, yes, I have been on Biaxin (macrolide) throughout the time I have taken Bicillin. They seem to work well together.

I take 1.2 mil every 4 days. I have without a doubt made the most improvement on the bicillin.

Hey David,

Three years is a long time on bicillin don't you think? I thought that 6 months to a year would be enough? Will you be able to get off of it someday?

I'm taking 1.2 m.u. also 3x a week along with 800mg Ketek (daily)........and it is kicking my arse!!!

Within 24 hours i'm tired and usually have severe neck pain (like a pinched nerve). It's been 12 weeks now, and the time in between is getting better (less fatigue and less neck pain)

It looks like this is a good combo for me......i still have to add something in for bart.....I tried Levaquin in April for 3 weeks and had severe knee tendon pain.....so Dr. took me off.

1.2 IU once a week.

Penicillins push the cystic form of lyme, not the L form.
