Sure sounds like a herx to me. I just ended an eight weeks course of Rifampin/Doxy. Doc had me add Tindamax three weeks ago. The combo kicked my butt.
The fatigue, brain fog, and listlisness were really bad these past two weeks. I felt awful.
Doc said stop the Rif/Doxy last Friday but continue the Tindamax and see what happens. Started to feel better Tuesday and felt pretty good yesterday and really good most of today.
These meds are not only hard on the Lyme/Bart but hard on the body as well.
Hang in there it'll pass.

isnt it better to stay with the meds that make u herx hard as apposed to the ones that make u feel better could also be that the herx ended and thats why u feel better. Its wierd though because everywhere i read symptoms of herx's dont match mine i dont see fatigue and brain fog anywhere i was starting to think maybe its just not working at alll and the symptoms are just getting worse.

I agree that it might be the ending of a herx that has caused me to feel better.
The Rifampin/Doxy though made me feel pretty bad from the first week and it steadily got worse over the eight week course. Adding in the Tindamax at week five was the icing on the cake.
I think I'm fairly tough and have been fighting this now for two and a half years with one course of treatment after another. I like many others on this board have seen times with two steps forward followed by one step back.
My point being after awhile you just know how much you can or should endure and you need a break. My doc agrees; so its off the Rifampin for a month then back at it because you're right it did seem to really be kicking the Lyme and Bart good and shouldn't be abandoned.
The final reason to take a break now is that I work everyday and that was really beginning to suffer because of how I was feeling. Like most I can't afford to lose my job or the insurance.
You mentioned your herx's don't seem to fit the symptoms you've read about others having. Every person is different and each herx can be different.
During this past one the glands in my neck and throat swelled up to the point it was difficult and painful to turn my head. First time thats happened. It wasn't really brain fog this time, at least not like when I was my sickest two and half years ago. It was more like a mind numbness. Lights on but no one's home feeling.
Since stopping the Rif/Doxy last week glands have gone almost back to normal and my head has cleared. Last herx I had it was face flushing, light chills, sweating but no fever the opposite actually a low body temp, fatigue, and joint pain. No two herx's have been the same since I began treatment for this. I think this indicates the different meds have been getting to the various places these keets are hiding in and hopefully driving them out for good. So don't compare your symptoms to literally to the charts.
Both of you guys hang in there. It will get better! And know you are not alone in this. Having learned the last part from all the great people on this board has gotten me through so much and given me great comfort.

You said it, Patrick. My husband has been much like what you described. No two herxes are alike...
I have to admit the early on herxes were more predictable (he's been on various ABX for almost a year now) But the longer he's been on ABX I think the period between herxes has been shorter. I was feeling pretty low last week cause he was looking so bad, and feeling so bad.
Lo and behold, the last couple of days he is looking SO much better. Smiling and laughing, says his thinking is better.
I don't know what's coming next, but I feel like we truly are seeing the light..

Same like your husband here. In the beginning the timing was more predictable. Over all though the herx's have been getting milder. Excepet for this last one that is. I was warned the Rifampin was powerful and could really stir things up and it did.
Something you mentioned caught my attention. About four weeks into the Rifampin treatment I noticed what your husband said to you, my thinking was better. Sharper and clearer than it had been in two years. My sense of humor also was back and I was laughing again. It'd been along time since I done that.
I hope and think this means we're making progress. Good luck to he and you and thanks for your comments.
