I used to have it once in awhile since I got sick. It's been four years. Now it's there all the time especially while I'm eating.

One side of my throat feels swollen, sore, and food gets stuck sometimes. I never choke, just little bits of food seem to get stuck until I drink something. I'm not sure if it's a swollen lymph gland or not. It's right at the beginning of the throat.

What could this be from? Any personal experience with this. I think I should go to regular GP to rule out something besides lymph.

You may want to look into GERD or acid reflux. I have had a similar problem for the last several months. A throat that felt kind of sore, a little warm, and the sensation of it being swollen, sometimes very much so, like I had a ball stuck in my throat.

I never dreamed GERD, but someone suggested it might be a problem and I did some research. Sure enough. Gerd or acid reflux can be silent for the most part, it doesn't always hurt. Having a swollen sensation is common and having it be way up high in the throat as you describe is also common. Sometimes it actually seemed to make it all the way up to my ears.

Refluxing acid can irritate the esophogus and cause the throat to spasm. A very simple way to find out if this is a problem for you is go get some Prilosec, take it for the 2 weeks that are recommended, hopefully your symptoms will go away. Then if you want there are natural things you can do that do seem to help.

There is a thread/topic that I started recently, some of it talks about GERD and how it effects the Vagus nerve. My symptoms are discussed there a bit more. It's called something like "I don't think this time it is Lyme.....a bit about the Vagus nerve"

I have severe neck burning and swallowing problems that I believe have caused vagus nerve dysfunction. How can I find out more about this. I attribute this to Lyme and not GERD

Yeah, I'm not sure but I don't think mine is GERD because it is always on one side of the throat. Very localized. More like swollen lymph gland with a raw throat. The teeth and gums and tongue up from this throat spot get numb. There are red streaks going down the throat on this side sometimes. I always feel like I am swallowing over something.

I will look into Gerd though. I do feel it all the way up into the ear.

I have also thought about lyme, bartonella, staff, strep, and yeast. Just wanted to know if anyone else had anything like this. Feels like a one sided mono.

hello..

this may seem way out there but i have been tested up the wazoo (no pun intended).

I have GERD and i get that same thing and my ears will hurt. But heres the thing, I have GERD because if IBS with constipation..

In the short version unless the lower half gets moving its all just "waiting"

The GERD make my throat swell and my lungs feel yucky all the time be I honestly believe the acid gets in my lungs..

But i am not a GI specialist i am just a patient [Smile]

Bottom line..if i keep things working by taking my morning and nightly regimin not mention the weekly Milk of Mag (I gag thinking about it)

My throat also my ears dont hurt and my lungs tend to calm down.X-cept when I hurt my back and take vicodin and flex for it.UGH no win

hope this helps
Hail

My Step-Dad, who was a family doctor, looked down my throat with a flashlight and saw canker looking sores going down the throat on the side that hurts. He said it didn't look like yeast.
