Not on abx after 1.5 yrs of Zith/Doxy combo. On vacation (early august) came home with ear infection. Was prescribed by local "walk in" doc Ciprofloxacin or Ciprodex drops. Combo of abx and steroid.
The infection is definitely clearing, but is part of this process having diarrhea? I just was uncertain, because you think ear drops wouldn't affect you like oral abx, but are we lymies different in this aspect?
I guess I should continue the acidophilus caps until my body cleans it out.
I have also been using colloidal silver (silver protien drops) for the immune system.
Any advice? experience?
Thanks

So sorry to hear, Lymester.
My daughter had 'zactly the same problem - screaming earache.
Walk-in duck prescribed 'zactly that med.
I was paranoid due to steroid ingredient. However, our LLMD ok'd it as it was topical. (Even walk-in duck was surprisingly knowledgeable about lyme, when told of daughter's lyme and recent Bell's Palsy, said 'Hmmm, so she has neurological lyme, eh?")
Ear infection cleared up fast on this stuff.
There was no other side effect that I could see from the med.
Hope yer doin better soonest -
Michelle

Perhaps you had a virus and ear bacterial infection at the same time.
My son had an intestinal infection, gut cramping and head cold, as did others at camp, with swimmers ear a few weeks ago.
I put him on some of the biaxin we had for lyme and probiotics and milk thistle. All cleared up and no herxing, always a good sign for a lymmie off abx for a while.
