I know that mepron is taken w/ zith and art to treat babs. And zith is taken to prevent developing resistance. But does zith actually kill the babs?
Thanks and best wishes!

I don't think so, babs is a parasite.

More specifically babs is a protozoa parasite. Zith alone can have an affect on the babs. When I was on IV zith it really kicked down the overall load of the babs. Many people are put on mepron which works for many, but I prefer malarone, it has 2 anti-malaria drugs in it. It is also easier to contol dosing. My last run on the zith/malarone/art wnet very well. 12 hours after the 1st dose I was continoulsy sweating, and my temple vain preasure finally went away.

I guess I'm just wondering if all the zith that I am taking with mepron and art is doing anything beside preventing resistance. I just finished my 5th month... some progress but slow in coming. I will ask my doc about Malarone.

To suprise the babesia, consider changing from Zith to Biaxin XL or Ketek, 3x a day mepron may work better for some. Also alternate between malarone, and artemesia is helpful!
