I was tagged with that diagnosis until lyme was correctly diagnosed. I never, ever, ever even entertained the idea that I might have a somatization disorder. I continued to go from doctor to doctor to doctor . . . for 21 years.

Without reading the above article, I have to say that the neurologist I went to for some very severe things going on with me...
anxiety alzheimers extreme vertigo numbness
ETCETERA, ETCETERA!!!
he ruled out a brain tumor with his MRI and then suggested somatoform but did not diagnoise it.
I entertained this notion and researched it for the next year or so as I continued to get progressively worse to an extreme I no longer want to imagine
until I discovered lyme, which I had barely heard of, even though I was tested for it oh, some 10 years prior...Elisa probably...
When I received a positive lyme test, I brought it back to this neurologist so that he will be aware... so that he will KNOW .
He said,
well...I can order a lyme test.
Not more than a week later I received a letter that he was closing his practice for the alternative treatments thing.
