I've just found out today I'm going to need outpatient OBG surgery (a D&C).
Normally, this isn't something I'd think twice about...but of course, these aren't "normal" times.
I know a number of people on Lymenet have had surgical procedures during treatment, and I'm just wondering if there's anything that would help me get my body ready for this or anything I should do once the surgery is over.
Apparently, my OBG has seen some anomalies and wants to be sure they aren't cancerous.
Thanks, everyone!
Andie

Drink tons of mangosteen when you get out....
I would also ask for abx if you don't have any right now.
Hugs and best wishes! Let us know how you're doing tomorrow, OK?

Wow! You guys are absolutely the BEST!
I realized as I read your thoughts and suggestions that I hadn't been very clear about some of the details of this. It's not scheduled until the beginning of Oct, so I've given myself time to cut out anything that's needed and increase other things.
I don't expect I'll be off abx by then. I'm currently on ceftin and rifampin regularly and pulsing tini. Lyme Ed, you talked about IVs, which I've never had. Would like to get opinions about whether the three orals seem like enough (will also run this past LLMD at next appt).
PQ, I was curious about your comment about fish oils. Can you elaborate?
Betty, I think I'm most concerned about stirring up the little buggers, too. When I had a simple dental procedure, you would have thought I'd had open heart surgery, the way my body responded. So I know trauma can be exacerbated.
Too, I'll stick with the mangosteen provided it doesn't enflame yeast (which it's now threatening to do). Not sure what to do about that reaction.
And Don, I can't tell you how much all your good wishes mean.
All of you -- as I said, you're just the best, and I appreciate it!

My thoughts are with you and wishing you the best for your upcoming surgery.
Pq is right about fish oils and garlic also along with ASA,ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Naproxyn or any other blood thinning agents. Any meds that are blood thinners you would have to ask your doctor if it's alright for you to stop such as Coumadin and Plavix if a person is on those.
The only reason I mention it is because I was just given a list of many drugs/supplements one has to stop if on those, due to upcoming basal cell surgery I'll be having on Tuesday. I don't know if these apply to you, but if so, you could ask your doc about that.
All the best,
lifeline

Thanks for the additions to the list, Lifeline.
Scott, I swear we're going to have that lunch. I have just wrapped up a round of tini and it knocked me a bit off my game for awhile.
But I'm feeling much better. I'll give you a call and we can do this before the surgery!
Hope you're continuing to feel well!

Andie, glad you are getting suggestions galore for your Oct. surgery so you know what to do/NOT do.
My last 11 surgeries kept getting worse after each one; I didn't know then I have chronic lyme ... now it makes sense galore.
Consider an epidermal as well; I had that my last surgery, and it went really well with not being in such pain right after surgery. My best to you. Bettyg
