hi all,

I am supposed to start taking N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). I got some and just opened it, and it stinks! Very strange, very strong odor. It is Carlson brand. Just wanted to make sure this is normal.

Also, instead of cotton, the top of the bottle was stuffed with a piece of cellophane. Never seen that before.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Though I'd check in with you all...

thanks!

Yes, it *is* supposed to stink! I wondered that too when I opened my first bottle of it -- peee yew! It is a sulphur-compound (don't ask me the exact chemical composition, please!) , and has a strong sulphery smell.

Some of my supplements come with cellophane rather than cotton, too.

If anyone wants to buy some I have a huge bottle here, I took maybee 4.

For some reason now I cant take acetyl-l-carnitine, it makes my blood pressure go way up and I get very dizzy and nervous.

I might put a post on this forum and break some more rules about posting only medical posts.

Im a long timer here and Im just looking to not have it go to waste.

Anyone interested please PM me. It is from a good quality doctor endorsed company.

Please read my warning posts about taking NAC as a single agent. There is a recent one among the thread "Understanding Mercury"

Take care.
