I just got my new antibiotic filled and the
pamphlet with it says contact your doc if
fainting occurs.

Does KETEK mess with blood pressure?

I have POTS and can't take anything that might lower my BP.

After I read the drug info from the internet about ketek I am afraid to take it...so much warning about liver failure....

I know many antibiotics have warnings but this one seemed much worse?

Anyone have experience with this ketek?

Yikes

Is your doc aware that you have POTS?

I think it's funny that it actually reads that you should contact doc if fainting occurs.

I'm a fainter anyway. I see or hear something gross and internalize it and it's Bombs Away!

I would contact your dr and be certain that he is aware of this tidbit of info before taking.

I have no exp with ketek, but have heard about it having good results.

Yes I took Ketek for awhile...

It can have a tightening around the heart muscle effect(I think it was killing the chetes around my heart muscle) can increase heart rate...something you should keep an eye on....

I played around with it and took 1600mgs a day for 15 days...it did'nt kill my liver or my heart...
I'm not prone to fainting....don't have POTS that I know of....but the ducks told me I had about everything else...when "all" I had was lyme.

That's enough......as we all know.

Anyway....I don't believe it will affect your blood pressure...but everyone is different!

Why not try it and see what happens?

I think it did really good things for me.....that mitral valve regurgitation I had a LOT of is down to very minimally noticable...almost non existant.

Don't do what I did...just take the 400 or 800mgs a day like the package says...you should be ok....
Personally I think the risk outweighs the reward....BUT, everyone IS different and reacts differently to medications.

Had to edit cuz I remembered that....
some who have taken Ketek did'nt notice any "good results" till about two weeks AFTER taking the stuff.
While on it, a lot of us have felt that we herxed mildly but continuously.

I fainted when I tried to take the idiotic recommended dosage of 800mg all at once. Just cut back to 400mg twice a day.

I have POTS and have been on Ketek since April without problems. If anything, I am able to stand for longer periods of time than I was before. [Big Grin]

I have been on Ketek 800 mg for 8 months with good improvement and no liver issues. I am not a fainter and have good BP but no problems. Prior to knowing I had Lyme I had some dizziness issues that they never figured out and they thought may be BP related but they never figured it out.

I have my liver checked every 2 weeks and so far it has been good. The things they check have been up 2 pt, down 3 pts, etc all within normal variation of the test and typical variation.

I do detox with milk thistle, detox tea, sauna, lemon water, supplements...

Good luck!
