Hi there,

Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) is a bacteria found in the stomach. Many times it's associated with gastritis and/or ulcers.

You can google it and find a lot of informations about it.

My PCP tested for this when ruling out other options.

Maybe you can get your PCP to order test for it, if they didn't already.

Only 8 days to go Kristin! [Big Grin] Your in the home-stretch! [group hug] Hang in there, you can make it!!!

Hi Help,
Someone will probably be along soon with a more scientific explanation. Here is what I know .It was discovered by Dr. Barry Marshall in the stomach and determined to cause stomach ulcers.I believe it falls into the mycoplasma group of organisms. They are between a virus and a bacteria and very difficult to erradicate.

Recently Dr Isador Rosenfeld reported on Fox News Sunday that they are now finding H.Pylori in the heart. But many scientist have known mycoplasms travel through out the body for decades and have felt they contribute to illness. Many are common and often found in the human body.

My husband was treated for h.pylori with a combo of abx.He was having alot of heartburn. It seemed to do the trick.I was found to be positive for both c.pneumonia and m.pneumonia with very high titers for the c.pneumonia.My doctor began aggressive treatment because I was also feeling very ill at the time .It was the first thing they began abx for until considering borrelia infection.

I may not ever be rid of it but hope my immune system can keep it in check.Mycoplasmas are being taken more seriously now and you can learn more at www.immed.org . Dr Garth Nicolson is considered to be a world class scientist and has that website up for lay people and physicians alike in order to help people with chronic infection.Clinical and very interesting. He is also a world class human being as he took the time to speak with me at length about these emerging infectious disease.

Well this has been a rather lengthy reply to a simple question. For the record I also had Dr Katherine Poehlmann on a talk radio show I used to have. Her show was about mycoplasma infection. We had more callers on that show in the history of the station which had been on the air since 1947.So this subject has alot of interest to people .Take Care,RG
