Hi everyone,

Would babesia cause inflammation in the sinus and throat, and breathing?

I am to see the LLMD soon, and at the moment am back on minocycline and flagyl, have been on them about 7-8 days, and the breathing is

getting so much worse. The sinuses are really inflamed I can feel, like a hayfever feeling, and the throat, around my neck area, and down through the bronchials.

It is not a herx, I have had some herxing, but lately the past 2 days gasping for breath.

Would babesia affect me this way? I was treated for 3 months on the clindaymycin and quinine about 4 months ago.

Would this be more lyme or babesia?

My LLMD is having a hard time with me, so I need some input if you can.

thanks [Smile] ,

Trish

As we know testing for co-infections is difficult. And isolating which co-infection is causing the problems is also difficult. As we remove the onion layers of these infections, some symptoms get worse and some get better.

I had all of the co-infetions, myco m. babs bart, ehrlichia, lyme EBV. Not to mention bouts of bad yeast and parasites.

I do know this much - When we finally got my myco down much of my respritoy(sp) issues became much better. Some of the throat issues improved - one layer removed. zith worked pretty well at getting at the myco for me - In hindsight I also would have liked to have been on an ABX that was also bactericidal with the zith. Omnicef would have been one of my choices due to that it also gets into the throat, tonsils and respritory and it has been used with zith quite often.

My air hunger issues did improve in pre babs treatment when I added Art to the zith during my myco treatment. shortly after we added an anti-malarial and we got down some of the babs.

I have to question, did they test for myco with you? Quest was the lab that did my myco. We tested myco about 4 times in treatment. I could tell from my symptoms when the results were going to be high and the test results always comfirmed.

Ehrlichia can also hit the lungs and throat pretty hard too. Do some research on ehlichia, you will see that respritory issues can become a big conern.

My last layer of throat issues left when I treated the layer of bart. I had these migrating sore spots in my throat that changed week to week.

Just some of my experiences

Hi Trish and others,

I was just talking with someone today about this. He told me that anyone who lives in an area where there are forest fires (and there are many right now which are quite severe), then the symptoms you are displaying right now most likely due to that.

I found travelling through Merritt and Kelowna area was just terrible, I couldn't get my breath, throat sore and hurt, and a dry cough. I thought I was a strange herx, but once I was back in Vancouver, was much better. And the air quality is not all that good here at the best of times.

Also allergies can play a big part.

take care
corinne

Thanks,

It is not the fires, the air is very clear where I am. I have had this before, it was lyme, and once babesia.

I was given some asthma inhalers, and one is so so, the other makes me worse. Flovent and sambutol, something like this. Sambutol gave me so much anxiety, it did not help the breathing,

Flovent, takes a week to work, this one gave me some anxiety.

I had inhalers years ago, and they did not work for the breathing.

I was given babesia meds, but I think this is still lyme. I am wanting to take my life this is all so nerve racking.

I started the clindamycin quinine yesterday but not good, the breathing is not GOOD. I am so sick of this DISEASE. I was better on the

biaxin and flagyl, but they were not working that well either. i was headed for IV, but then the CD-57 came back 128.

I think the lungs and throat are swelling and the bronchials from lyme. Why else would the biaxin and flagyl help if it were not lyme.

I think I need another lyme antibiotic, I thought it was babesia still, but I believe that hte breathing would be a little better

if it was babesia. My nerves are shot from all of this. I have no joy left in me, this disease has sucked the life out of me, as well as my brain.

I could not stop screaming today into the pillow, the frustration of this, and the horror of this disease for myself, is breaking me, and

LLMD does not have another patient like me.
I think????? it is still lyme. I hope so, that would make things much easier.

I feel this GUCK in my lungs, and it is dryish and it was coming out with the biaxin flagyl, but I was not progressing on this combo like before. I thought it was

REALLY still the babesia, but now I think it is not. I jsut need to vent, I want to live again, all I do is live in this bed.

Trish

babesia herxes can be VERY VERY rough and cause alot of air hunger, headaches, palps.

I am on mepron and my air hunger went from hard time breathing every now and then to constant gasping for air, this disease sent me from being a varsity baseball player on my highschool team to being totally diabled, the gasping for air has lasted two months so far on the mepron, but is slowly improving.

I also was on flagyl and zith, very similar to biaxin and saw improvement,The flagyl caused alot of air hunger in the first ten days on it. now that i am on mepron i swear my lyme is out of control, which it might be, but i am convinced my air hunger is babs. I also have bart.

Hang in there, i have been going through this tourcher for a year and a half, my llmd says he has only seen a few cases like me, but you have to just keep on going.

I hope you can find some relief, also myco could be the culprit to if you have it, i am not sure.

Andy

Actually, it could be a herx. Both those drugs cause severe side effects, and flagyl kills off the natural flora in your system immediately, causing a yeast explosion.

Flagyl does not need to be taken every day. You can pulse it. Minocycline is palatable to some people, and intolerable to others, and either way there are other options. It's easy to find out if you have a babesia problem, just take artemisinin for a week and see if there is any effect.

I agree with Liz about the art. I have only been on it for 2 days and I am herxing like crazy.
