i have been on ceftin now for 2 weeks at 500 mg twice a day.
somebody told me (sorry, can't remember who), and it was not a doc, just a layperson, that this is not near enough. that i should be on 2000 to 3000 per day.
my stomach and system cannot tolerate more than 1000 a day. i get diahhrea, stomach pain and, of course, massive yeast.
she's given me this for 2 months and will reevaluate at end of october.
does this sound like it's not enough??? oh yes, symptoms.
i think my headache is better, ears are about the same, joint pain is much much worse. mentally i think i'm a little more alert. so i think i'm stable but whether or not i'm improving i can't say. funny, isn't it, i can't tell if i'm improving or not. must be lyme...........

I'm on the exact same prescription for 6 weeks, which ends next week.
I've had some progress and some digress and I think I'm really no better than when I started.
I have ear pain and issue with tingling or numbness of hands and toes (especially at night).
I'd love to hear if 500mg 2x/day is enough or not.
Dr. Burrascano in his "Managing Lyme Disease" paper says "1g q12h" is a proper dosage (whatever all that means....maybe 1 gram every 12 hours?).

where is my memory?? the reason she is giving me this dose is because i have a history of kidney and liver problems. every time i go on antibiotics, my levels go haywire. so this is why she is not giving me massive amounts.
it's also the reason she said for me not to go on the diflucan protocol. because diflucan is very hard on the liver and kidneys and she's afraid that with my history it could really be bad for me.
hey, don'tlike liver, do you feel you have improved on this dosage? are your symptoms like ours?

1 g12h means 1 gram of the drug every 12 hours.

I have started it not long ago, so I really can't say yet how good it's been for me.
I also have below average kidney function, low end of normal range, but my LLMD is not concerned about that and the abx and he has a LOT of experience.

Take acidophilis everyday 2hrs before or 2 hrs after abx, on ceftin I would take 3 at a time. also right before bedtime.
That will help the yeast problem also if you can eat a plain yogurt no sugar added use a artifical sweetner in it maybe one or two strawberries cut up you want to keep it as low as possible in carbs.No sugars. Maybe if you can some diflucan for yeast control.
Depending on your weight = amount abx and responce in blodd work.
1000mg a day amy be fine Iam pretty big and I took much more than that in combo with another abx.
