I'm concerned because my husband's doctor treats patients for short periods of time. For instance, he started his mepron/zith treatment and I asked about the length of treatment and was told it was 3 weeks. I know that according to the ILADS guidelines, chronic babesia should be treated for a minimum of 4 months!!!

We just received in the mail the artemisinin. Could my husband continue taking that even without the mepron/zith with any effect on the babs?

In my opinion (I have no medical background), a short term treatment could actually be worse.

When you take the abx, it seems to trigger activity from the spirochetes. It is also killing them off, but if stopped too soon, it actually keeps them tormenting your body.

For me, I was only having random joint pain with normal days in between the days of pain. It wasn't a picnic, but certainly tolerable. Then I had a week of abx, followed by 6 weeks of normalcy, and then all hell broke lose in my body. I haven't had a day without pain since April.

The important thing is to treat the infection COMPLETELY! If it was strep throat and you didn't treat it completely, it would return with a vengance. Same thing applies here.

Maybe you need to begin your search for another doctor??

Don't take the Art without something like Zith.
