I called the docs. office yesterday because after the most recent course of antinbiotics, I have no energy at all. They had told me to take some DHEA, B compex and Coq10. Is anyone taking the DHEA and if so, has it helped improve your energy and stamina?

My DHEA levels tested low, as did pregnenolone and the Dr wants me to supplement with 7-keto DHEA and pregnenolone.
I haven't started them yet, but have read up and see there's a difference in DHEA and 7-keto DHEA (which supposedly doesn't raise testosterone or estrogen levels; if I've read and understood it correctly).
I'm watching this spot to see what other people have to say. Sorry to be of no help but thanks for posting the topic.

I have been on prescription DHEA since April. My energy level was always good but bloodtest showed my DHEA to be so low it was almost flat.
Joint pain has been my most obvious symptom and it has improved greatly under this doctor's care, but we are doing so much in addition to DHEA, I can't really say how much credit to give to the DHEA.
I will say this though, it has really helped my libido! Wowee! I feel 20 again.

My DHEA was found to be much too low, but I was told by both holistic docs I saw in that time that it is not safe for women to take more than 5 mgs. per day long term. So, that is what I've been taking, most of the time, for about 3 years now.
It has raised my DHEA level to the upper half of normal. I was told this will help me to bounce back and heal better. The only change I feel from it is a slightly better ability to handle stress.

By prescription, do you mean your doctor writes a prescription and you get it at a pharmacy? Is it sold as a medicine as well as a supplement?
I'm supposed to start DHEA and it would be great if my insurance covered it.
