Hi,
Just wanting to know if my very excessive thirst is related to my allergies and chemical sensitivities or a developement of OCD from lyme disease.
I have had tremendous decrease in most lyme symptoms but these are as strong as ever.
I did have very low antidiuretic hormone levels few years ago, but pituitary function is normal and this level now normal.
I feel so dehydrated constantly and I have to have fluids at least hourly. If I can't get fluids, I hurt. All my muscles ache, even in my face.My b/p drops 70's/30's.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

How much water are you taking in? I have read 1 ounce for 2 lbs body weight. So if 120 lbs, that is 60 ounces.

I am about that weight, but normally only take in 48 ounces if being lazy, but it increases when I am on meds. My 48 oz. water does not include coffee, herbal teas, soups, etc.

Large amounts of water can flush electrolytes, minerals, etc. Need to replace.

Also, are you monitoring your salt intake? I use Redmonds Realsalt, about 1/2 tsp = 2 grams/day.

Also, daily, a good broad based mineral supplement ( I am alternating Source Naturals Life Minerals, and Biotics Research), plus a multi vit/min (I am using a Weil product), and then add magnesium on top of that. My chiro/nd found I was low in minerals.

Obviously, talking with your md is the priority in all
instances.

I have read that MCS can be a result of candida, if that is any help. Mine has improved with reduction of candida, massive probiotics, garlic , and following a diet, and supplements for removing ethanol.

Northstar,
I drink about 200-250 ounces each day. Almost 2 cups every hour for about 18 hours a day. It's exhausting.

Have you looked into Diabetes insipidus.
Just a thought !
Blood pressure and dehydration seem to be common with lyme. Maybe the kidneys are overlooked.
I have the low blood pressure and dehydration.
I've been house bound for 3 years with dizziness and fainting from low pressure.
No problem with thirst.

Wow !

200 oz !

I second Al's suggestion that diabetes is a possibility.
Excessive thirst is one of the symptoms for one type.
Best to see your doctor to get it checked out.
Google diabetes thirst to see what you find.

I would definitely look into diabetes first.

Second, I would consider autonomic nervous system disfunction. Low blood pressure is a definite sign.

I watched a "Mystery Diagnosis" a few weeks ago in which a young woman had an unquenchable thirst. This went on for years. She had to drink constantly. I think it was a deficency of an adrenal hormone. As soon as the docs gave it to here, she was normal within minutes. Lyme affects the adrenal glands?

Spooky...

Have you ever been tested for yeast or consider it at least?

It sounds like yeast.

I'm always thirsty, especially when I am detoxing. I drink water and lots of herbal tea and really don't worry about it.

I drink over 3 liters of water per day.

My 1st thought also is diabetes 2; ask to have a A1C done, 3 month blood sugar glucose vs. a normal finger prick test! That gives you a truer picture.

Also in the MOLD WARRIORS book I'm readng, it mentions a lot about mold allergies causing excessive thirst as well.

I attributed it to all the meds/supplements I'm on but now that it's that plus my diabetes 2 and MOLD ALLERGIES. go fiture.

Have you had mold allergy testings done? Mine were done in LaCrosse, Wisc. by Dr. Kroker, allergist.
Good luck to you.

Bettyg [Big Grin] 150-200 oz. daily of water drinker!

WOW! I thought I drank a lot of water until I read this thread! Are you people all living in the bathroom?

I drink about 3/4 gallon daily, trying to keep my 3 leaking heart valves well hydrated, and as a result, I have to pee about 25 times per day, including waking up every 2 hrs. at night to pee.

One reason I don't drink more is because I don't want the problem to get any worse than it already is.

I have just started using CPAP for apnea. My PCP says if that does not fix the problem, she will order a test for anti-diruetic hormone.

Thanks for info,

I have always craved salt. Had low TSH years ago. Now normal. Have a goiter.

I have mcs/allergies. Allergic to smoke, cat, dog, mold, ragweed, etc.. It was a test of 65. I know I have food allergies. I smoke, and have cat. Didn't show typical allergic symptoms.

Diabetes insipidous - Pituitary supposedly functioning normal. Did hit head during sleepwalking. Couldn't be kidneys (diabetes insipidous) because low bp.

Could be type 2 diabetes mellitis- runs in family. I think doc checked hgba1c few years ago. Sometimes hypoglycemic.

I do have frequent yeast issues. Never tested. Take more acidophyllus. 1 billion organisms.

I will study on yeast and mold.

Thanks again for info.

Spooky I just ordered that "salt pipe" info found in this forum.

I'm on it 4 days now, I think it's worth a try!
