I wanted to let you know that I posted messages in some other forums for the Lyme Petition. I posted on Healing Well Forum and so far 32 people have viewed my message, I also posted on Health Boards, and I just got my registration verified for Lyme Busters, so I will be posting a message on there. I also had 12 people I know personally sign the petition.
The way I look at it, we all want some action on this no matter what "board" we are on!!!
I wanted to also let you know about two more things...
Every year my company has a United Way Drive, and every year I donate thru payroll deduction to my favorite charity. This year right before I enrolled again, and really just by chance, I noticed that the Lyme Disease Association is one of the charitable organizations you can specify you donation to be sent to. Just figured I'd mention it, just incase anyone else does this...
Also, I know printing stuff out costs money, but if we printed the petition out, with all of the signatures, and called the newspapers or TV stations to cover some "volunteers" delivering these petitions to their local representatives?
Do you think this would work to get some exposure?

Hi Wildthing, Wow, you are doing a lot to get this petition circulated and signed! That is so great!
You have some good ideas about uses for the petition. Lynne, who wrote and put the petition on line, is the one who will make decisiions on how it is used. I know she is open to ideas.
Could you change the subject of your post to: Lyme petition uses ? If you just go to the pen and paper icon for editing your post, you can change the subject heading.

I am moving this up so we can contribute with some ideas on ways to get this petition out in front of the right people

Thanks for all those efforts. I think the idea of presenting the petition in front of the media is a great idea. I assume that would probably have to be arranged ahead of time with the legislative office.
I've been trying to look into when this legislative session ends. I found something that said the target date is Oct. 6, but then I found this http://clerk.house.gov/histHigh/Congressional_History/Session_Dates/100tocur.html which shows that over the past couple of years the session has not actually ended until December. Does anybody have some knowledge of this process? Anybody have any idea what the realistic end date is this year?
Any other ideas are welcome.

According to Washingtonpost.com, the House and Senate are hoping to adjourn this week-end so that they can have five full weeks to campaign before the mid-term elections in November.
Lynne, you noted they often adjourn in December. In non-election years, they are often here until Thanksgiving or later.
But in an election year, especially one where control of both houses is at stake, I think it's a safe bet that they will be out of town in the next 4 or 5 days.
While the Lyme bills will be dead for this Congress, having your representatives and senators at home campaigning for 5 weeks presents opportunities to get in touch with them directly.
Copies of the petition could be delivered directly to their district offices. This is an especially good time to try to meet with them. They are never as interested in the concerns of their constituents as during the weeks preceding an election.
