Hi all, I'm new here. I have posted in the General Forum about myself and believe that clinically speaking, I fit Lyme pretty well. Waiting to get a test.
I have some unusual symptoms that I haven't seen in my research. Not sure I should call them "symptoms" as such. But here goes.
The only time I feel really well, almost like a "normal" person would feel, is when I've been exposed to a strong virus. For about 12 hours before I come down with it, I will feel energetic, non-painful and actually have some feelings of well being.
I don't catch things often because my immune system is very strong and never shuts off. It has attacked and killed my thyroid and not sure what else. But when a stong bug does get me, I will have a few hours of "normalcy". Anybody else?
Also, I am in my 50's and I have absolutely no tooth decay. Not one filling. I'm not trying to brag about this but I think this is all a part of the strong immune system thing. Cavaties are caused by viruses. I don't do anything special regarding my teeth. I'm not one to brush them a lot or to excess. I just think I have "killer spit". So, again my immune system is different than other peoples' for some reason.
Is there anyone else out there with the kind of weirdness? Anyone with any other weird symptom?

I feel "normal" when I'm running a fever. When it's over 99F, I have more energy, my fatigue lifts, and I feel nearly normal.
My temp. normally runs low(97.8 on average), probably due to Babesia or maybe the Lyme attacking my thyroid gland.
So, I attribute my energy/temporary diminishment of symptoms to the higher body temperature.

many times right before a flare or a crash I will have the most incredible feeling of well being. I feel ridiculously good and walk around for half a day with a silly grin on my face. Almost maniacally good, or high. But I have learned from experience to just enjoy it and take it in because within hours there will be hell to pay. I had wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

It's not by far my most unusual symptom, the jury's still out on that.
But I get something similar to what alliebridge said above. My normal temp is about 97 but if I run a fever it greatly, really greatly, reduces my pain level.
I have noticed if I get something "normal" like a cold it trumps all the other stuff and I respond like everyone else and usually can shake it faster than the people around me. (I am mostly my least symptomatic TBD-wise, shame I have a cold then, pfffft!)

My weirdest symptoms have been related to neuro Lyme things.
I had severe olfactory sensitivity -- certain perfumes, the smell of fish cooking, even of newly-mown grass -- were all almost unendurable for me in early treatment.
I know nerve pain is pretty typical for many Lymies, but I'd never experienced anything like it. I would just be sitting somewhere, and suddenly, my knee or hip would start to burn like it was on fire. The pain was just excruciating, but nothing in those areas seem to have changed.
Maybe the oddest symptoms, though, had to do with speaking and writing. For months and months, I stuttered sometimes uncontrollably. I'd finally have to abandon what I was saying and start again in a different way.
Also, my writing got all discombobulated. I'd intend to write "time" then look down and realize I had written "twine." Usually, the first letters were the same, but the two words were otherwise completely dissimilar.
I'm a writer by profession and have done quite a bit of public speaking, so both these symptoms were nuts to me. After more than a year of treatment, the stuttering has almost completely left, but I still find myself writing strange words...

I have had all the symptoms you have written about.(Including MDs thinking I was healthy LOL). I also feel much better when I have a cold or the flu! Also when I travel, I'm usually symptom free. My weirdest and most frightening symptom is that when I get a calf cramp in the middle of the night, it is followed within minutes by this really sick feeling of heat permeating through my body.Almost a sweaty feeling too, cept I am not really sweating. I feel like if I don't lie down , I'm going to die, but how does one lie down with a cramp?????? It is quite scary, not the leg cramp but that other feeling. My friend who was just 50 was trying to tell me it is a hot flash. I don't think so, as this is much worse and AALWAYS preceded by this calf cramp. CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY WITH OR FIGURE THIS ONE OUT???? Please let me know if you do.

I also feel normal the day before a cold virus hits. But, once I get a cold, it takes me about 2 months to shake it.
My strangest symptom is probably turning red and sore all over, while simultaneously suffering a prickly burning and having chills so bad my teeth chatter.
The symptom that scares me the most is the Lyme rages. I am so afraid I will hurt someone some day, and it feels like being possessed.

When the Lyme-bugs really knocked me off my feet it happened after a week where I had felt sooo good. I was so happy because for several months I hadn't been feeling okay. (Didn't know I had Lyme at that point) Then suddenly it just hit me. I always feel really good the day(s) before a bad flare of symptoms. It annoys me because I forget how ill I really am, so if I see a MD at that time I will not tell how it is all the other days. End up being too well. Posts: 155 | From Norway | Registered: Jan 2006

I get nerve pain that gives me very sore spots on various parts of my body. It really likes the thighs.
I keep looking for big bruises, but there is nothing. It lasts a few days, then goes away.I also feel better the day before a flare and often overdo it.
This happened yesterday, so guess how I feel today? Good thing I got a lot done yeterday. Cindy
