I have documented sleep disorder from lyme disease. I am being treated for this disorder, however now the insurance company is denying my treatment stating that there are no sleep disorders in lyme patients. Does anyone has medical publication references for lyme and sleep disorders?

"The late neurologic symptoms consist primarily of a mild to severe encephalopathy, a polyneuropathy, and profound fatigue. This encephalopathy which is thought to occur in 9 of 10 patients with chronic neuroborreliosis is often characterized by subtle disturbances in mood, memory, and sleep (2). It is in ruling out subacute encephalopathy that psychiatrists will have their greatest diagnostic challenge, for these patients may be irritable, tearful, depressed, and have poor concentration and sleep."

Why should it matter what the cause of your sleep disorder is? If you have one, then the insurance co should pay for your tx. Can the insurance company deny your tx for a sleep disorder just because you also have Lyme. Are they trying to say that Lyme prevents people from having sleep disorders.

Have you ever been diagnosed or misdiagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, because there are proven sleep disturbances with those syndromes? Just wondering if that was ever part of your diagnosis because then you could submit it under that diagnosis.

Yesterday I had tonsillectomy for my Lyme Sleep Apnea. Waited for it for over 3 years because it is Canada; Service is free but slow.
Breathing is better.
But this 'friendly' surgeon gave me a large dose of steroids while I was still unconscious after surgery to 'facilitate my healing'.
Darn ducks they should fry in hell!

You might want to take a look at any info that takes a look at nuerotransmitter imbalances with those having lyme. I had a test done right at the beggining of treatment, they were all messed up. Like many here, I have a cycles of not sleeping for up to 5 days at a time.
