Hi everyone, let me start by asking this question about Acidophilius. What do you use? My LLMD wants me to take it. I found some at CVS in capsule form, but it has Yeast listed as an ingredient. Is it suppossed to have yeast in it, or is there another form that I should be taking that doesn't have yeast?

So I went to my first LLMD appt. to see Dr. F in Louisiana. He is wonderful. He believes I have Lyme, Babesia, and Chronic Fatigue. He is doing a western blot through Igenex. This is my treatment so far (He is waiting for my test to come back from Igenex to start the antibiotic, but he said he is positive I have it.)

1. Diflucan (for yeast)
2. B12 shots (for fatigue)
3. Vaccine neutralization shots (for pain and fatigue)
4. Neurontin
5. Flexeryl for more refreshing sleep
6. Acidophilus capsules
7. Vitamins, and supplements

I believe once my test comes back, he will start me on Minocycline. He also put me on a no-sugar diet. He seems very up to date and thorough. He is a great doc and spent lots of time with me and my husband to explain everything. He ran an EKG to check my heart, and he drew blood for full labs. Just wanted to check this through y'all to see what you thought. Any suggestions? I am having somewhat of a difficult time emotionally dealing with this- sometimes I feel guilty for being sick becuase I have to slow down and rest more- but I know it's not my fault. I didn't choose this. I also feel REALLY alone sometimes, because I feel like no one understands what I'm going through.

Hang in there!! The major hurdle has been made!

Yeast in acidophilus???? [Eek!] My favorite product is Theralac. You can find it online only.

I'm glad you found a great LLMD. Hope things will go more smoothly now!

I can relate to how you feel after your initial visit- it's both a relief that someone finally validates your illness, at the same time it's overwelhming with questions about what's ahead.

I take Nature's Biotic, Advanced Probiotic Formula, which is available through my LLMD's office, although we can get supplements anywhere we want. There is no mention of yeast on the label and it has to be refrigerated.

Welcome to Lymenet-it's a great source of information and support.

No, no one but US CHRONIC LYMIES, will fully understand what you are going thru daily and the emotional lows and some highs.

Hey Jude,

Don't make it bad.
Take a sad time... and make it better.
Remember to let us into your heart.
Then we can start to make it better.

Hey Jude, don't be afraid.
You didn't mean to go out and get hurt.
The minute you let mino under your skin.
The you begin to make it better.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude refrain.
Don't carry the Lyme upon your shoulders.
For well you know it's a fool who plays it cool
By making this world a little colder.

Na na na na na na na na na

[Big Grin]

Everything seems to be in order hey Jude. Sounds like you are ready up to start plowing down the road to recovery!

Hey Jude, START YOUR ENGINE!

But I do see one BIG problem in your protocol. None of my business but if I were you.. I would surely have a talk with the LLMD.

A NO sugar diet?

He certainly doesn't mean NO ice cream!!! Does he?

Oh no hey Jude.. that's just pure punishment!

[Eek!]

[Big Grin]

I would suggest not starting everything at the same time. That way you can keep track of reactions to specific medications/supplements.

Starting Neurontin and Flexeril together can be really major on your system. Both cause fatigue. Many people have problems having enough energy on just one of them.

Flexeril is a muscle relaxer, so it will likely help with pain. I assume the Neurontin is for nerve pain?

I took neurontin for nerve pain/neuropathy/numbness and tingling but had trouble with it making me really tired and dry mouth, I also gained weight with it. I now take topomax for the same thing and have no side effects. I would imagine everyone responds differently but neurontin made me groggy all the time.

If you need ice cream make your own. We have the ice cream ball from LL Bean and make our own, organic 1/2 and 1/2, vanilla, and stevia in one end, ice with rock salt in the other and roll the ball around to the kids for 1/2 an hour/ YUMMY!

No sugar is important [Smile]
