Hi, Does anyone know of a good source for a resvertaol that does not contain grape? I'm allergic to grapes. Also one free of common allergins such as wheat, soy, corn, and yeast.
Source Naturals produces one, but my doctor no longer recommends SN to his patients.
Also, I would be interested in hearing if anyone has had any benefit from this product. I am certainly taking enough pills, drops, and liquids -- no point in adding one unless it is of benefit.

Hi Serendipity,
Hope you are well!
I think that Resveratrol is helping me, I have been taking it for about the past month. Of course, I started several supplements after my lyme diagnosis this summer, so it is hard to single out, but I do believe that Resveratrol is one of the better healing-helpers. So, I recommend it to you for any neuro symptoms.
The source should be Polygonum cuspidatum root. You can get the Source Naturals brand fairly inexpensively from iherbs.com. This is the brand that Buhner recommends, although I have not read his book yet....I take 4 x 80 mg each day, 2 twice a day.
The second day after I started resveratrol, I felt awful. But no side effects after that.
Hope that helps! And I hope that the mold problem is better....

Hi Vermont, Thank you for the information. Now here is the problem -- or challend as my doc likes to say-- source natural is not an option. My doctor does not like the line for various reasons.
The mold problem is not as bad as I thought. And my apartment is taking responsibility for it without my having to fight, rant and rave.
take care

I bought the Source Naturals Resveratrol. I ramped up quickly to 6 tablets per day, and noticed a DISTINCT improvement in my mental processes.
However, the extra blood flow apparently stirred up more stuff that had to be filtered out by the kidneys, as I developed an ache in that area.

I question whether or not I am even absorbing the SN Resveratrol due to the fact I have had a herx from any anitsprochetal herb I have tried, except for the SN resveratrol. However, I am hearing through the grapevine that the Source Natural product line is great quality, and that their products test well for many people.
I would like to try this in tincture form, and the only source I am aware of is from Biopure.

Bea's husband also had a good response to resveratrol. In an earlier post, she stated he could not tolerate 5HT apparently as it converted into a toxin, the resveratrol fixed this problem. I get insomnia with 5HT and wonder if I have a similar problem. Although I am taking L-trypotophan which is converted alsto to 5HTP before serotonin, and it is working well.
Takedownthemoon-thank you for the information about biopure. I haven't looked at their website.
And resveratrol is produced by many plants, (see link below) including grapes. It justs seems most of the resveratrol herbal mixtures have some grape or grape skin in them.
Resveratrol is produced by plants as an antifungal chemical. It is found in the skin of grapes, in peanuts, blueberries, some pines, such as Scots pine and eastern white pine, and the roots and stalks of giant knotweed and Japanese knotweed, called hu zhang in China. Resveratrol was first isolated from an extract of the Peruvian legume Cassia quinquangulata in 1974.
The amount of resveratrol in food substances varies greatly. Red wine contains approximately 5 mg/L, depending on the grape variety, whilst white wine has much less - the reason being that red wine is fermented with the skins, allowing the wine to absorb the resveratrol, whereas white wine is fermented after the skin has been removed.

Thanks you guys, you have been so helpful. I have an LLM appointment at the end of next week and would like to take a bottle or pill for my doctor to energetically test. I thought if I ordered something Friday or Saturday I *might* get it in time. Or if I am luck, will be able to find it at one of the health food stores in Dallas.
I looked up the Biopure Restvertaol -- there is no grape in the tincutre but it is in an organic corn alcohol base.
Corn has high levels of aflatoxin. And is a common allergin (I am allergic to corn, even organic corn). Either way, not something that would work. My doc thinks MOST Americans are allergic to corn.
So I will continue to search and continue to appreaciate your help.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resveratrol "Resveratrol is produced by plants as an antifungal chemical. Resveratrol is available as a mass-produced nutritional supplement but not as a therapeutic agent, although it is registered as an investigational drug. The supplement, first sourced as ground dried red grape skins, has shifted somewhat to include some types of knotweeds as a raw material."
what i have noticed is that most reservatrol is not grape anymore. there is a whole other group of grape skin supplements, like opc-3? i think the one i have is not grape. brett

i think also that the knotweed is probably cheaper. stalks vs. skins. this is a very likely reason for the dominance of the knotweeds.

Hi BTC, How are you. I don't know why I am having such a difficult time finding a good source of resvertaol without grape or grape skin, other than biopure which has corn. Are you using a particular brand.

My apartment, after a thorough inspection and air quality testing, is deemed to be safe in terms of mold. The mold plates that I had used, and recommended to others have at least two significant flaws. The mold counts in my apartment are signifcantly lower than the air around my apartment, which was used as a standard. And I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown about the prospect of moving. Hope I learned a lesson.
