Strange question but who out here has had pain and tighness in the Piriformis muscle, which is located in the butt. This makes it difficult to pick the feet up. Neurontin does take the edge off the pain but I can't function(mentally) when on it so I only take this at night.
Just wondering if others have had this and what may have helped. [confused]

hi, I think I have that problem too. My physical therapist pointed to a muscle on a human body muscle chart. I think it was this one, no sure because I forgot the name she said.

Yes I have dificult time lifting feet, I ride stationary bike to keep the muscle memory of the lift action.

Is this muscle below the out glut maxmus (sp) close to the spine...runs up & down...not crosswise?

I'm gonna google it, no need to answer, I am such a duh sometimes.

Me

There are excersizes that help stretch this area out, that helps. It's been a constant problem for me for too long. It wraps around and goes down the leg. I used to have it on one side only; not so much anymore.

Physical therapy helps.

I can only remember one excersize right now and am afraid I will explain it wrong and make someone hurt themselves.

Sorry so little help, I'm anxious to hear other answers though.

Glad that I am not the only one with this problem. I also ride a stationary bike just to try to keep the muscles limber I was able to ride 7 miles but that was before the lymes got worse.
I also have tried a few exercises for that area but relief is very brief if any at all.
Thank you for your responses at least now I don't feel alone with this problem. It's kind of difficult to describe to others that you have pain in you butt.

Yes, I also have the periformis pain. I even had prolo injections [Mad] It takes a tough cookie for that!

The prolo helped some.........then I recently had my gallbladder out (Bday present) which can cause back pain. It has been 5-6wks since surgery, seems like my back pain is better....uhm...

Maybe there was a connection. [Wink]

I don't know which muscle it is but I have pain and soreness on both my butt cheeks, hurts even to touch. It's been there for almost a year. It's in the spot where there is a concaved area on the cheek. My legs are heavy and I have paresthesias down the outer side of my left leg all the way down to the foot.
