I read the post about music playing in one's head. Well, I don't really have that happen to me, so I reckoned I should start a new thread.
Especially during my herxes or flares I get this strange thing going on in my mind; whenever I am watching Tv, talking to somebody, listening to a song etc, I will start "typing" the words/ sentences out in my mind. I can't help it! Suddenly I just see the sentence being typed out in my mind. It drives me crazy at times! Especially if I can't remember how a word is spelled and I have to delete and try again
I don't know if it could be a way of my brain processing information, or if it is just Lymie. It is really weird, typing convers ations in my mind. I never seem to be able to type fast enough either!! Posts: 155 | From Norway | Registered: Jan 2006

that definely sounds lyme relayted. Alot of weird lyme stuff like that has happened to me also along the way.
My latest scifi/lyme adventure sounds like the men in straight jackets & rubber rooms sound be knockin on my door soon
I chant. I have no control over it. Non-sence chatter.
It usually goes like this: Anna may say may.... happens more when I am herxing or nervous about something or just sometimes anytime.
Happens alot more when my mind is blanker. Its feels like my mind is short ciruting.
weather typing conversations in your head or non sence chatter...its all a stranger than fiction lyme experience and one in which I hope with further treatment will go away.
Having lyme sometimes seems like being in a bad scifi movie which I wish I could just turn to another station. Or hit the mute button

This is called OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). Many people have it but live pretty normal lives. Most don't even really notice it. They are just sort of "perfectionists".
Lyme Disease makes it much worse. Kicks it into overdrive and makes it sever enough so that its a problem and interferes with daily life. I've had my share of it with lyme. I would hear the same 2 or 3 words repeated in my mind 24/7 for weeks/months on end.
When discussing this with my LLMD, he told me he once had a patient who would need to wrap his words around objects in the room when conversing with someone. My Dr. said it was really bizarre. The patient would stop talking mid sentance, then look around the room until the could find more things to wrap his words around, then continue.

Thanks for replying! I was worried that my mind had gone for a hike, and I used to be so smart! It is very strange, but as long as I know it is a lyme-thing, I don't need to worry about it.
It is like a scifi-experience, but worse cause you are in it yourself.
Another "funny" thing that happens is when somebody would talk for a long time, and even though I hear the words, they seem to not enter my brain. So I just have to consentrate on getting the first and last part of what is said so I can ask a follow-up question. I have no chance to know wether my follow-up question has already been answered or not. Find myself in a limbo there.
But I find that my mind is turning back towards normal though, over time.

I do that to some extent!! For me, it's more like words at a time...not complete sentences. I think [at least for me] it's because I do so much typing.
Yeah, if that's my only OCD, I'll take it!!

Here's a weird one...I now whistle loudly... patriotic tunes.....never whistled before...."every heart beats true the red white and blue" this comes out after I get up... The Star Spangled Banner follows...
I thinks it a compulsive response to reaffirm that Im not totally toasted yet..Athough, if you witnessed my whistling bouts you'd think I was toast.

I have just posted this on a different forum for Candida..which i originally thought was the cause of my illness when i started getting sick last year. I'm copying and pasting it here.
Please keep in mind i am NOT being treated for lyme till may so im not aggrevating yeast with antibiotics at this time. However i use to take them a lot for frequent UTIs. Thanks.
So... I am more confused than i was a year ago. i focused on my moderately elevated candida test result(Doctors Data 2+) being responsible for my ill health. Now...it has changed to Lyme disease(Igenex lab positive) They both cause many of the same issues. I have MANY MANY problems and i am sooo sick but dont know where to start or which treatment to choose. Im horrified of what a herx will do to me as my mind and body are so very weak.
extreme fatigue, brain fog, memory/concentration issues, nausea, dizziness/balance issues, vision problems, constant anxiety, diahrea, numbness, chronic body ache and body weakness, head pressure, tremor feeling, muscle jerks, heat intolerance, lethargic, insomnia, and many many more. Naturally im very depressed.
Ive had maaaaaaaaaaany tests done ranging from thyroid to parasites to ebv. Only candida and Lyme ring bells. Im scared for my life. I dont know how severely ill any of you are but all the little magic potions Ive read about on here dont help. Im also very sensitive to supplements/medicines.

Hi Siggy and everyone, I hope for all of you with OCD caused by Lyme that it will go away and be a distant memory for all of you!
I had OCD long before I had Lyme. My sister, my Dad, And I have it. But it was funny reading what others are compelled to do.
Not that its funny but you know what I mean. I have to do things in fours. Everything. And I dont thnk it will ever be gone. I know it wont.
Everytime I touch something I count to four in my head. It so frustrating!

Wow. I do the "typing" thing in my mind when hearing stuff on TV, complete with errors, backspacing, etc. Sometimes I do this typing thing when daydreaming, too.
I also blank out what people are saying. I see their lips moving and I hear the words, but can't seem to make sense of it. They might as well be singing whales or grunting pigs for all the good I get out of it.
I never thought I'd meet anybody else who did the typing thing so I don't think I've even mentioned it to anybody.
OCD, huh? Well, I always did think I had some things in common with Monk .
