Buhner talks about the CD-57 test in his "Healing Lyme" book. He says LabCorp is a monster corporation and the test is relatively unknown to them. He goes on to say, "Your physician will need to know the codes used by LabCorp for them to provide the test. Diagnosis: ICD-9 for Lyme: 088.81. Test procedure code and description: Test ID#32103-5, Stricker NK Panel CD-57."

last spring-in Salt Lake city, Labcorp was HAPPY to do it, just had to have help with codes etc. So I called the main manager that ran the local office through it. But that is SLC, for you, they (med. folks and well everyone) may not know lyme is in the Rockys but by gosh they are into efficiciency!
turned out the lab tech was very sympathetic, she had worked in an LLMD clinic, east coast before moving to the West.

thank you all for your responses, i'm still trying to get this friggin' mess straightened out. the first lab i went to, where i always go you and mind you i had a CD57 last year at labcorb and evrything went fine, well after about an hour of the lab trying to figure it out, they found that they didn't have the right solution in the tubes, and couldn't answer how they did it last year.
so they sent me to another lab in town that has the right solution, they drew the blodd and then called me the next day saying that they were told be someone at labcorb that they no longer do this test,
now i'm really sick of this. so i called customer service at labcorb and they said that they do not actually run the test there but they automatically send it out.
so i then called the lab back, and she goes on to tell me that she keeps getting different answers every time that she calls laborb, and that she has sent them CD57's in the past after they told her to do so, and they got all got cancelled, by labcorb, saying that they do not do this test anymore.
i'm still trying to get this straighted out. i'm going to go monday and have it done and sent to them and if it gets cancelled, well my llmd will have to figure it out.
has anyone had such a runaround? i'm going to tell my llmd that i'm not doing this test anymore, unless it goes through and doesn't get cancelled, we'll see.

Labcorp.. in my opinion... and from what I've heard from others... is the most lame place I've ever dealt with over the years for blood work. Not only have I had to deal with wicked witches working there... but stupid wicked witches!
I thought it was just me for the longest time.. but the last time I was in one of their offices, 2 women, who were waiting for blood tests... one was pregnant.. were siting there playing cards! I kinda giggled as I went past them.. and one whispered to me.. to the effect of...
'Gotta do something to keep from killing those lab people... and it takes so long to get your turn.. even with no one else here, so if we have to come here.. we bring books or cards!
I also mentioned it to my docs office and they have had multiple complaints.. as did another doctors office I visited. Then I started asking around.. and ALL the people I spoke with HATED going to the labcorp offices.
At one point I was driving 40 miles extra... one way... just so I wouldn't have to use their lab. Having to do that when you are sick.. well, it sucks!
Seems they start at me the moment I walk in...
"You must have an insurance card or we can't see you. The numbers on a piece of paper won't work.""
Fight number one.. my company doesn't issue "cards"... and I am already in their system with all info right there in front of them... have been for many years.
Also.. they ORDER you to "GO SIT DOWN AND WAIT." Not, "can you have a seat... we will be with you in a moment". They treat patients like dogs!
Then.. here comes another problem... "We can't do that test unless you fasted."
But my doctor specifically said "NO fasting" on the orders... see right there. Fight 2.
This process can last up to 1/2 hour... really!
I have actually gone back to my truck.. called the docs office.. walked back in with phone in hand and said, "Here, the doctor is on the phone and wants to know why you are refusing to do the blood work they ordered."
That works. None of them .. to date.. will give the doctors a hard time. Sometimes I just tell them to call the doctor themselves and say they are refusing to do my blood work. They have even told me.. to drag it out even more... that they don't have the number.. then when I show them it is on the order form.. they say they "don't call doctors".
ANYTHING to make life more difficult! GEEZE!
Soooooooo... threatening to call the doctor MAY be an option for you?
Also I found if you contact their main office.. look up their website for phone number.. and tell them what is going on... you will get satisfaction.
As for the test you wanted..
They did mine about 5 weeks ago. I haven't heard they have stopped doing it. By the way.. I still don't have the results!

We took our daughter to Bellingham, Washington 10 days ago for the CD57 panel. The lab tech there was delightful and knowledgeable. We got the results back yesterday. Apparently there isn't anythink overly special about the way the test it taken, but rather the confusing paperwork and making sure the blood gets to the right testing labs within the appropriate amount of time. The tests get done in North Carolina and somewhere in California I believe. So yes, the tests are done and we believe they are quite conclusive.

You can have your LabCorp office call the LabCorp office on Sutter St in San Francisco. This is the office in Dr. S's building and they're very familiar with him and the test. They will give your local office instructions. They've always been very courteous and kind to me and my family.
If your local LabCorp doesn't seem cooperative you might try calling the Sutter St LabCorp yourself.
Good luck! D

An east coast office for LabCorp is in Burlington, NC. I passed it every time I went to my daughter's university. That's where my CD-57 tests go.
