I have sevear dizziness especially when Im out of the home. My shrink said it is completely psychological. I need meds. Im not sure anymore. My llMD said it could very likely be due to lyme. This is also a symptom of lyme. Can anyone relate??? Please write your story so I can relate. The dizziness happens out of the blues and I get weak in the legs, and I have to squat really fast while holding my head because I get so lightheaded. anyone??? I know a friend who has the exact same thing and he said he felt it was due to lyme. Thanks everybody... [group hug] terri [group hug]

Have you been checked for babesia?? I used to have those problems before treatment [and during treatment] for babesia.

Also look into NMH and POTS. Many of us get that from the lyme.

Yup,

that is how my lyme started off in August 2005. I would get it while driving a lot and while walking in stores. But then i got it at home as things progressed.

It went away after i took 2 gram one dose of zithromax.....dizziness got real bad while on that, so bad i couldnt look at a computer screen without the whole screen moving.

My arms and legs would get weak and tingly too....and i would get warm and a strange sensation around my eyes....head pressure too.

I also had a numb tongue feeling that went along with this too.

At one point last september i went to the ER almost daily for this....

hang in there.

I took my dad to urgent care today for this. He's early disseminated Lyme (I'm chronic) and he's on treatment, but got a sudden onset of vertigo, lightheadness, etc.

Because of his age, we had to rule out non-Lyme things too like stroke. He tested fine.

I'm presuming it's either the Lyme, a herx (although he hasn't herxed much) or some medication issue.

Lightheadedness was one of my first Lyme symptoms, where I'd feel like I was falling toward my computer when I was working at it. The anxiety from Lyme seemed to be separate from the lightheadness for me - but in my dad's case, he definitely had a combo of vertigo and jitteriness today.

Take care,
Jill

Yeah, I've been dealing with dizziness for a few months. It was really bad for a couple weeks.

I'm taking Burbur, which is a detox herb. I don't know if it helps, but my doctor thinks it does. He says it's probably from neurotoxins from Lyme.

I'm also thinking my babesia is back. Because of that and other symptoms.

Yes- the dizziness is the worst part for me.. have been dizzy pretty much constantly since Feb. with maybe a couple good days in between-some days worse than others.

It seems to be getting a little better- at least I can drive most days now unless it's really bad.

Hang in there.

Hello terrirdls:

Yes, for me, the dizziness and related anxiety I felt was and is definitely caused by lyme -- it is not all in your head!

I have been dizzy and had vertigo for a couple of years now; it crept up slowly until it became debilitating. It was one of the symptoms that tipped me off that it might be lyme, which I suspected due to untreated tick bites and bulls-eye rashes.

And although I feel much better after 3 months on first doxy now amoxy, the dizziness is only marginally better...

Find an LLMD and see what they say! At first I thought that my dizziness was caused by my own stress and anxiety -- they feel very related.

But I came to understand that I am anxious because the dizziness always makes me feel like I am about to fall over! It is all getting a bit better slowly with treatment, but I think these symptoms can take time to resolve...

good luck and keep us posted. [Smile]

I got dizzy last winter. I thought I had an ear infection as my ear hurt too.

I upped my abx a bit. When I called LLMD, they said take a break. Turned out abx were causing it because dose was too high. It was very strange.

This disease is so hard to deal with as it is so complicated and doesn't always make sense as hard as you try to figure it out!

The good thing is it gets better with treatment.

Hang in there and I hope it goes away quickly.

Char

Terri,

Is your blood pressure low? I have autonomic neuropathy, one of the results of this is lower than normal blood pressure and a high pulse.

It's nowhere near the levels some people here have, but I'm usually around 110/70. I've noticed that my blood pressure is lower when I'm dizzy and having vertigo. My pulse is also high at that time.

You can get a portable monitor at any pharmacy and track your blood pressure and pulse. If nothing else, it might help show your shrink this is physical. But it's also good to know what's going on with your system.

I also get this. Mostly in the morning , when I am trying to awake and get out of bed.
I got this while I was at the family docs office, they did a blood sugar (110) and my pulse ox ( to measure oxygen was 91). My blood pressure was 110/70.
After this happens and continues for a few minutes I feel like the blood is rushing out of my feet and I going to die. [loco]
I have babs and lyme.
It's the oddest sensation.....like my mind leaves my body ! sux big time !

Had the same thing happen to me for quite a long time. I could never go in 'big' places. I would feel lost, like I couldn't see, too much input... then get anxious and dizzy and the floor would drop out on me.

My advice - stay out of big places like food stores and the like until you've spent some time on treatment. If you do have to go in one, I suggest wearing your sunglasses - it will help limit the visual input. You might want to get your eyes checked to make sure nothing's going on there.

This WILL pass with treatment. BTW - do your ears ring also? If so, it could be the ringing is throwing your sense of balance out of whack. Standard treatment for Meniere's is teeny dose of valium twice a day. Shuts off the inner ear and helps you regain your balance. Mind you, I'm no doctor - just a Lymie who's been there.

You're not crazy - this is real, and many of us have been through it. [group hug]

Hello Terri,

Just send you a PM -- but pressed the Reply button mid-sentence before I was finished! Whoops, my lyme brain at work again [Roll Eyes]

Anyway, I was going to suggestion the Buhner book and herbal supplements; Healing Lyme. I have only yet read excerpts myself (can't wait to read the whole book!), but I think some of the supplements have been working well for me these past 2 months.

There are quite a few threads on this subject, so if you use the Search function above you can get alot of information on that.

Take good care and please let us know how you are doing -- I hope the treatment works effectively and as quickly as possible! These things really do improve with treatment, over time...

I've had this for 3 years now . I've been mostly house bound with the dizziness. I also pass out every few weeks. I've been to many specialists.
Some abnormal tests are,
Pos. Tilt table test
Abnormal brain stem response
Low Rennin
Low Aldosterone
Low Citrate
low sodium
High Ammonia
Low blood pressure
Dehydration
I just recently tested pos. for lyme and started abx.
PS. I know that dieing feeling, I've been to the ER. many times with it.

I had a very bad episode of this in 2005 while teaching. I went DOWN but didnt actually lose consciousness. Was rushed to ER with labile stats--my blood pressure was way high then very low then way high again, and my temp also and my skin all clammy.

I could barely breathe and I really thought I was going to die.

I was treting babesia at the time.

For weeks it was very difficult to function with the amount of dizziness and breathlessness.

My mom gets anxiety attacks and tried to convince me this is what it was.

It got better but i still suffer from it off and on--nothing compared to that one show down, but enough to make me sit down in stores, lay down in the middle of the sidewalk, etc.

Hi everyone,
I also had the same feeling of breathing problems and clamy and dizziness. I also feel lyme also afects us and causes most of us to have anxiety attacks. I agree, valium has become my dear dear friend. I only take 2.5mg once in a while but at times it gets so bad I take 5mg once or twice a day. What ever works to keep us anti anxiety and able to walk a little bit. Im not looking to be able to go to a rock concert or go on roller coasters but just to be able to walk around and not be scared that I might have one of these dreadful dizzy attacks. I do stay out of the grocery stores. And yes, the sun glasses do help a little bit. I must say, I do feel a little better since Im on amox and clindomycin. Im also going to start the samento. Thanks every one and Ill give an update soon. Till next time. take care everyone. HAVE A GOOD DAY TOMORROW! terri [group hug]
