I have been told by a friend with Lyme that her doc put her on Transfer Factor for a month or so before any abx. Is this a regular thing or just her doc's protocol? Anyone else have experience with this product. Thanks in advance!

Kudos to your Dr for recommending Transfer Factor! Anything to build up your immune system. !There's another site www.cpnhelp.org that deals with chlamydia pneumonia/MS and offers a protocal similar to a Lyme abx protocol and recommends gearing up with tons of supplements minimum 2 weeks prior to starting ABX. By the way, my LLD says they are treating for Lyme on cpnhelp they just don't realize it. Oh well, at least they are using an abx treatment. But a good site for not only supplements but people share their experiences with the protocol.

My son's non-LLMD Allergist/Immunologist pediatrician (specializing in Homeopathy) also suggested using Transfer Factor. He feels it would be extremely beneficial. Has anyone used it? Outcomes? How much used? How long? Can teenagers use it?

Re: cpnhelp.org Of course, a Lyme doc might say we are treating for Lyme with the Cpn protocol, just as many Chlamydia pneumoniae folks might say people using Lyme protocols are actually treating for Cpn! There is a lot of overlap in the meds.
A couple things to note-- - Many folks probably are treating for both Cpn and Lyme, as well as other organisms (like mycoplasm, etc) as the scope of multiple co-infections is just beginning to be recognized. - While all the Lyme's agents kill some phase of Cpn, there are agents (such as NAC) used to kill Cpn in a particular phase which, as far as I know, do not have any effect on killing Borrealis. So, if you take NAC and get a die-off reaction (we call it the NAC flu) this would suggest that you have Cpn involved. If this is so, taking only the Lyme agents will leave Cpn in Elementary Body form still in your system and you will reinfect.
Cavalier comments by doctors who know their own sub-speciality well, but really have not studied fully other organisms and their microbiology and treatment, are not useful to us patients. It becomes an easy "toss off" phrase that the larger community picks up and takes as truth, when it's really ignorance.
We all have been damaged enough by ignorant conventional medicine. Let's not support ignorant unconventional medicine, where the practitioners really should know better how much they do not know!
