I am going to see Dr. P (former ILADS President) in Dec. and wondering what types of things he tests/what labs he uses/what clinical observations he does.

I have already been tested for Lyme and co-infections by Igenex in June '05. I have/had a raging infection & Bartonella.

I am interested in learning about other things like nutritional deficiencies.

There are a couple of labs that seem to be very good at testing for deficiencies- does he/will he use these?

-metametrix
OR
-spectra cell

thanks,
VLSer

Hi Vlser,

I saw Dr. P at the onset of my treatment. I already had a positive Western Blot for Lyme and Bartonell, a full panel of labs for viruses, heavy metals and fungi.

Dr. P ordered a SPECT scan, CBC (complete blood count), electroyltes, and liver function tests. Really the basics in terms of blood work.

In our two visits he did not counsel me on nutrition, supplements, or do any tests similar to the ones you mentioned.

I saw him quite a while a ago, so he may have changed his protocal and practice.

I have been a patient of Dr. P for almost three years. Generally speaking, he practices fairly traditional, evidence-based medicine and uses labs like Igenex, MDL, LabCorp, etc for testing.

He does not make any recommendations regarding nutrition (other than to eat a healthy diet), supplements, or alternative therapies.

If these are avenues that interest you, I would advise finding an additional doctor to work with you on these therapies.

Hi Vlser,
I agree with everything already offered.
In addition he ordered my husband a CD57 and a Chlamydia Pneumoniae titer.

We supplement a ton and he said, "OK" to that. He was pleased with my husband's b12 count and told us to continue sublingual methylcoblamin.

traditional, conservative, true,true,true.

Good evening all,

NOT trying to be a pest here, but I would like to throw out a general caution to all about posting re: any particular LLMDs protocol or practice habits here on a public board.

Thank you for your consideration.

My best,
Melanie

Actually, in hindsight, I agree with you completely. Thanks for the nudge.
