Does anyone know if any new information was presented for the successes of long term antibiotic therapy in chronic neuro cases

at the recent conference?

Will there be any new info presented to the public that shows hard evidence of this success

during this time when it is in such question from IDSA and some media?

If there is hard evidence re: successful long term abx therapy that was presented at this most recent conference...

now would be the time to reveal it.

It would also help me in determining what to do in the next stage of my treatment plan.

Thanks for any info!

There is one study that will be published shortly. Another study was just completed. But no data presented yet, probably because they need to await publication.

There was some information presented on the use of Rocephin with neuro-degenerative diseases, etc. However, I did not walk away with the impression that there was any significant information that was likely to be accepted by those in the other camp in the near term.

Thanks, Scott. And was there any info aout when Dr. F's study would be published?

Sheesh, it's been what, going on 2 years now? Dr. F has published before -- it's not like he doesn't know how to get his data in order.

I can't imagine what might be the hangup. Er...yeah...I can imagine....

Remember, studies looking at long-term treatment take long-term. My understanding is Dr. F's study is complete, but no publication date is set.

I'm not sure if he is stil analyzing/writing results of if he is shopping the study around for publication.

here's where ILADS drs. rebukes IDSA's studies

http://www.ilads.org/gaito.html

This position paper is a rebuttal to

ILADS' Position Paper on the CDC's Statement Regarding Lyme Diagnosis

hope this helps

we've heard so much about dr. F's study. When is it coming out?
I am trying to do some fundraising for the cause in the high net worth individuals circle (I've written about this before), but I am getting the same answers: I want to see something credible. That is - not any pubmed abstract gets the same credibility. Dr. F's study would give us a tremendous boost!

Any ideas?

Thanks for the links.

It really seems imperative to be publishing or reporting many success stories

otherwise there isn't much of a leg to stand on

against the scientists and mainstream and there will continue to be this controversy

which puts people like me, in the late stage neuro situation

in quite a terrible mess.

I would think considering the trouble that more efforts and studies would be going on...

It is almost 2007 and with this having been named in mid 1970's

and to have this kind of divide,

is completely absurd. In order for insurance to start covering expenses,

more proof needs to be presented.

I realize it is not easy and it takes time but it seems there has been ample time to get some facts together.

Even though there is a difference between double blind randomized studies with clear inclusion/exclusion criteria and clinical observation, it seems clinical observation can be tracked and reported on with reliable statistics.

I guess we must just keep on keeping on and make careful choices in treatment and speak out when we can.

Keep in mind that even the double-blind randomized studies are on our side!

Two out of three of those studies showed a statistically significant BENEFIT from long-term antibiotic therapy.

For both of these studies, physical benefits were maintained long-term.

The IDSA tried to obscure these facts in the new guidelines. Hopefully the publication of Dr. F's study will help bring this truth to light.
