Hi [hi] ,

I'm after advice on what you've found to be best & most effective pulsing regime for tini/flagyl

-is it a few days every week?
-2 weeks on 2 weeks off?
- 1 week per month?

I've tried various - my 1st LLMD advised 4 days on, 3 days off. My new LLMD advised 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. - all seem to have different opinions. [confused]

I do know that after 2 weeks of it, i feel really weak, muscle strength gone completely so wandering if best go back to a few days each week?

any advice on what you;ve found most effective?

also do you find tini less toxic & less die-off than flagyl (metro)?

In the begining of my treatment I could not tolerate flagy or tini at all. Way too much herxing response.

For me the last few times that I have been on Flagly it was a 4 days on and 3 off. This was much easier to handle. You have to weight out what the side effects of the drug is doing. You don't want to burn yourself out.

I also had to go on a run of Flagyl for 15 days due to a c.diff issue. This was after about 19 months of treatment and the herxing response was low and it was the frist time I could tolerate this drug. That was 500mg 2x a day. This would have completely knocked me out in the begining of treatment. I think you have to weigh out what the drug is doing to you.

i have done tini for 120 days straight--very tough the first 10 days but saw great results after 6 weeks,

later on i have done it 5 days on 2 days off every other week with my other abx. i always noticed a herx on day 4 or 5 so it worked nicely for me. i now do the same pulsing only every third week as i have been doing much better.

i really think it depends on how far along in treatment you are and your own docs preferences--don't think there is a right or wrong way.

somewhere in the back of my mind i do remember reading that tini caused cysts to "pop" after the 4th day of treatment(i believe this was in the lab though). It seemed to hold true in my case though approximately.

you will have to try and see how it will effect you. I just know the first time i took it on the night of day 4 i was hammered with a herx but better next day. then on day 7 i had the nastiest herx ever which lasted 3 days. after that is was not too bad. Good luck.

At least one study showed it takes tini 2 weeks to bust large #'s of cysts - that's why some LLMDs say you need to pulse that long. (I'm not sure if that goes for Flagyl too.)

I'm curious about what LLMDs who pulse shorter would have to say?

My LLMD has me two weeks on , two weeks off.(flagyl)

I plan my activities around nap times. ie I get up, take kid to school, come home, nap, run errand, come home, nap, pick up kid, come home nap- the rest of the time I just keep repeating- I think I can I think I can I think I can.(forgot- check the computer before and after each nap [Big Grin] )

just got off the phone with my LLMD--he is using brorson's research to back up his plan of 3 weeks on flagyl and then a month off (but on abx) and then 3 weeks of tini. Brorson spoke at the conference and does not believe that the typical pulsing of 3 days on and 4 off would kill OLDer cysts. It might destroy young cysts though which is why some people do get some relief taking it in that format.

His research (as LDfighter said) shows that you need at least 14 days of cyst busting.

I'll begin this therapy after I recover from surgery (again.)

Thanks everyone for all replies on pulsing regimes.

the links were really helpful - so from research it seems pulsing for min 2 weeks flagyl/tini to be most effective way. i guess i've got to stick out the 2 weeks then!!!

Thanks again [Smile]
