I had lyme 2X before this time...the last time i contracted it i felt it...i went into my body and met it and knew i had it (and at the time, it told me to feed it sugar)...i went to the doctor and told him i had it. he told me i was paranoid and sent me away...a few weeks later, while on the road to NM from NJ with no health insurance i got the bulls eye rash.
basically been researching and dealing ever since. as for not treating...i wouldn't put it that way. i eat in accordance to what the bugger likes...(soooo, no sugar, and THAT seems to be the way)...i have adapted to it, and i don't want to. i avoid stress, and i have had to give up my livlihood of farming...i have outbreaks every now and again, and i pretty much know how to keep things in control...but i also know it is not good to have this in my body and that it would be nice to not have to be so conscious of my every step.
AND, i don't see ANY conclusive evidence that long term antibiotics are the key...BUT, i feel drawn to give it a shot right now...AND the flagyl piece is scaring me...if it works i want to do it...i can deal with 6 months of torment to get rid of it, but i am scared of A. long term nervous system damage and B. making the spirochete stronger and warping so i won't know how to handle it anymore.
i do have a LLMD (the only one in BC it seems). his agenda is more to make people believe that lyme exists...there are no questions in my case, it is pretty straight forward (if only the origianl doctor saw that!)
he gave me the options of: flagyl tinidazole (but that isn't covered, so nevermind) or plaquenil
mixed with biaxin or zithromax (amoxycillin) or ketek
it is a protocol. i will listen to the doctor, but the thing is, he isn't listening to me...he is giving out a protocol...which is fine, i just want to know ALL my anti biotic options and which ones would be the best fit for me and my case.
any flagyl experiences would be good to know ?

I did Tinidazole and Ketek combo as a step in my treatment plan. Now Tinidazole and Omnicef.
I have heard Flagyl is harsher in terms of herx for some. You do need to stay away from alcohol, even mouthwash and cold medicine.
It sounds like you are already eating the anti-yeast diet. That is good. Are you taking probiotics? Make sure you take good probiotics at least 2 hrs away from the abx.
There is a ton of information about for detoxing while you are going through treatment, good to read up on.
It is good to find out all you can but everyone is different in how they respond.

Yes, definitely make sure you take plenty of probiotics while on abx...and take them 2 hrs before or after the abx.
Flagyl is often "ramped up" when you begin it. Many give their patients 1/4 pill for the first few days to see how they react.
Then you gradually increase the dosage as tolerated.
Ketek is very good...but you have to have your liver enzymes closely monitored. Biaxin was a VERY good drug for me.

Just FYI, not medical advice, I have been on Ketek and Omnicef since April, after being ill for over 40 years. I also added Plaquenil in July.
I noticed an almost immediate improvement in my fatigue and need for long daily naps.
I still nap almost every day, but not as long, and my POTS has improved so I can actually stand up for longer than one or two minutes at a time!
Be sure to take a good liver support supplement, like milk thistle, if you are on Ketek, and, as was mentioned earlier, get your levels checked frequently.
I herxed pretty hard when I started on Ketek and again a week later when I added the Omnicef. Now I herx about once a month, but it's getting better, so may be time to switch abx.

Unfortunately its alot of trial and error...
I have done flagyl from your first list - helped alot...but herxes were horrible and long... but I survived them.
I have done everything on your second list. The only thing that did not help was the amoxicillin...
A number of us in the Vancouver area are trying some different things. Go to canlyme.com. We have a get together coming up this week and I think it would be well worth your while to speak with others on what has worked for them.
