Hi- just saw some of these posts and this just started happening to me. It's more like a weight is on my upper chest/throat ( not like "cold" congestion-just a heaviness) that makes it hard to take a deep breath. I have to really try to get a full yawn/breath?

This started a few weeks ago-last Sat night was so bad I considered going to ER. Of course the dizziness/clogged ears/head seems to worsen with this also.

I had my doc check my lungs yesterday--said they sounded fine.

Does this sound like what some of you experience?

I also had to start taking prednisone again and have been getting a new intravenous treatment for my ITP, so I never know if it's lyme or side effects to meds, or something else?

It's just weird & kind of scary how it comes and goes lately. Can anyone relate?

Thanks
natalie

Natalie,

I've got tightness, not heaviness. It's hard for me to describe besides feeling like my asthma did.

As far as prednisone, do you know that steroids are not recommended if you have Lyme? Steroids weaken the immune system and allow infections to take hold. It can make the Lyme much more difficult to treat.

I had that for about 4 weeks in Sept and Oct. worst I ever had. Tight lungs, hard to breath, short of breath. Had to sleep on my belly to stretch out to breath.

I have had asthma and its not that. Once a doc gave me an inaler when this happened, NEVER again. It burned my lungs raw.

The conclusion I came to is, its some kind of dry inflammation, maybe of the pleura. It finally went away and I am pretty good right now. Hiked a stiff 60 min today. I suspect though I have Babs and will have to address this in a few months as I move through my protocol.

I had the same thing. Shortness of breath, tight feeling through out my chest.

My LLMD just tested me for babs again, as my first two tests came out neg.

I also had a gallstone and a central port put into my chest. Either of those could have caused it.

It isn't too bad now. I used to get winded just walking up the stairs to my room. I still feel as though I can't get a DEEP breath and I need to be stretched out or something.

I am glad to hear I am not the only one, but I am sad that it's a symptoms (of course) of this tick-born disease.

I am not really sure what to do about it. I don't run, because that would probably kill me but I do try and walk for about 2 hours every day. I found that this has helped.

Even though it's so hard to get up the energy to do it, I do feel like I am getting stronger. My body is more toned and overall I feel healthier!

Years ago, I was full of sinus and respiratory allergies. The allergist gave me prednizone, allegra D and an inhaler. None of these really helped. I had trouble breathing and it felt like you had poured concrete into my chest. I was a runner at the time but had to give up all forms of aerobic exercize because I could not breathe.

Amazingly, this came about 6 mths to a year after my lyme bite (6 mths abx to get over that). No one ever connected these symptoms to the lyme bite (ELISA test was negative) and I did not have any knowledge about lyme.

I wandered into a local herb shop. At the time I knew nothing about alternative care. This was a very upscale shop in a beautiful victorian home on Main Street and I went in out of curiosity. The owners were husband and wife and they both had degrees in herbology.

They recommended and sold me a bottle of ALJ by Nature's Sunshine (MLM company). It consists of 4 common herbs of which I have since forgotten which herbs. I took the bottle to my doctor and he approved trying them. It only took 3 days to see a difference and the difference was HUGE!

I could breathe again. Really breathe! I took ALJ for 2 yrs because I was afraid to stop. Finally, life got hectic and I stopped taking them. That was 4 yrs ago and my breathing problems have never returned.

It is worth a try. Not expensive and not dangerous though I do recommend you get your doctor's approval because of possible interaction with any drugs you are taking.

Dear Natalie,

I am sure you have seen my posts related to my air-hunger.

To me this is one of the worse symptoms and has caused me tons of anxiety.

Am to see an LLMD at end of month and hope to begin some aggressive treatment.

Sorry you have this symptom, but if you are like me it is somewhat of a relief to see that others have it too.

Hugs and Prayers,
Geneal

Malarone really helped me with this symptom, but it did get worse before it got better.

Luvs

I looked at the Natures Sunshine's web site ...

it has the following in it...

Boneset aerial parts
Fennel seeds
Fenugreek seeds
Horseradish root
Mullein leaves

On average it's between 9 and $12.00 - 100 caps.

Thanks everyone for your replies. At least there is some comfort that others go through it so we do not think we are going crazy or are experiencing something really bad. I was convinced maybe I had pneumonia or worse.

Yes Aniek- I know about the prednisone.. I hate to take it but sometimes I have to give in to my other doctor. I'm sure it has something to do with my slow recovery. Hopefully the other medicine will start working for my platelets and I can stop it. I sure hope so!
Regards,
Natalie
