Good Morning All!

Looking for more info on low B12 levels and TBI. I searched the board and found references to many lymies having low B12, but I was wondering if many of you were actually really low.

My dd just started B12 shots. Her B12 level was 212, down from 240 two weeks ago and about 6 weeks ago it was 300+

I understand the llmd would have given her B12 anyway. One shot and she could tell the difference! [Smile]

He questioned why other dr who ordered first two tests didn't treat the B12 deficiency. 240 at one lab would be considered normal, but at the lab the llmd used it would have been low or below normal results. 212 is low at both.

He has ordered other tests b/c of this. More bloodwork and a GI scope. I wonder if they will take a biopsy to test for bacteria in the small intestine or stomache. Wonder if they will find the usual ones, or TBI ones! [confused]

Wondering about others experiences!

Thanks in advance! [Smile]

MommaK

FYI: dd was diagnosed with Lyme, Babs, Bart, Mycoplasma, Fibro, CFS, pernicious anemia, B12 deficiency
waiting on other tests.

Hi mommak [Smile] As you know, I see the same LLMD as your daughter. I also take the B-12 shots and they help sooo much. I'm glad to know she is getting good treatment.

Hi judes26 [hi]

Thanks for the encouragement!

I will try not to worry about the upper GI scope until we get the results!

OK, more test results show low folate, and high cortisol. No surprise there!

The llmd now wants my dd to go to a hematologist before the GI scope. I guess they will run more sensitive B12 tests for pernicious anemia.

Anybody else familiar with this?
