Hey folks, My primary care and naturopathic doctor is putting me on a strict diet as my cardiac CRPs and ammonia levels are pretty high (double). So no more sugar, wheat, gluten, and on and on.
I am looking for some good recipes that anyone might have, something to help me over my starches and bread issues and CHOCALATE (sp).
Absolulety no, sugar, starch, gluten, etc.
Anybody have some great recipes would be fantastic.
I cant get back on antibiotics until i get my ammonia levels and cardia crps, back down.
It is ridiculous when your drug of choice is antibiotics.

From Carb Free Comfort (gluten, starch, sugar free recipies)
Chocolate Almond Bark
2 squares unsweetened chocolate 1/2 tsp vanila 1 tsp Stvia 1/4 + 1/8 goat milk or heavy whipping creap 1/2 tsp cinnanmon 1 1/2 c. almonds
Melt chocolate and milk in double boiler over medium heat until smooth and liquid. Stir in vanilla and stevia until smooth. Stir in almonds. Spoon out and press down on to cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Let cool - keep in refrigerator.

I would politely disagree with the advice/recipe given above.
Generally, if a person avoids all starches and sugars for a 4 days to a week, the cravings subside (though, this does not hold true for everyone). But giving your tastebuds a taste of sweetness does not help. In my opinion (and the opinion of many who are much smarter), you are better off waiting a while before trying anything sweet, even if sugarfree.
For me the taste of sweets, baked goods in particular, seemed to act on my brain, lighting up the pleasure centers like a drug, and causing terrible cravings that had nothing to do wth hunger.
Fiberous veggies, of which the selection is enormous, can be made to taste quite delicious when sauteed in a pan with favored spices. Even steamed and seasoned vegetables are very, very tasty.
Remember, the beginning is the hradest. After that it can be quite easy and enjoyable.

PS -- As for ammonia, did your doc mention anything about your protein intake?

Here's a good webb site for some recipes. Click on "recipes in the left hand side menu. You may have to modify some recipes to inclde a sticter diet.

Thank you folks, keep them coming. I am going to try to make dressing for Thanksgiving out of Hemp bread. We will see. I went to the recipe section on Whole foods, pretty cool, now i have to get myself up and go to the store. I will still use the chochlate recipe. Thanks, my naturapathic doctor gave me a chocklate bar that is on my diet, and it is raspberry flavored, and that is my favorite. Keep them recipes coming. Lemonhead

Colon problems; see www.celiac.com I discovered thru food allergy testing, I'm ALLERGIC TO: WHEAT/RYE as well as casein...cow's milk, egg whites, garlic, etc.
I'm having a hard time too since 5-06!

Chromium and L-glutamine also help with carboydrate cravings. Since I started L-gluatmine again a few weeks ago I have lost interest in sweets.
But I keep the recipies around just in case. They incorporate foods that are good for you such as flax seeds, pumkin seeds, nuts and goat dairy. They are only slightly sweet with subtle nature flavors. I don't long for sugary store made sweets after tasting them.
And added bonus, the nuts and goat dairy give me the extra fat I need to put on weight.

I have Celiac disease along with Lyme, so I, too, must keep away from Gluten. The Celiac website mentioned above has reciepes each month. I also have become a fan of a little supermarket magazine called "Everyday Food". It seems to have lots of simple reciepes that are GF and GOOD. I find since cutting out the Gluten my sugar cravings have skyrocketed and I'm gaining weight from the rice and potatoes I now must live on-ugh! I appreciate the Chromium and L-glutamine recommendations. I haven't been on either since I was first diagnosed 2 years ago. I tried to take them then, but they sent my nervous system into constant jitters. Mangosteen juice sent my heart into palpatations. Anyone have other remedies for sweet cravings? I need snack ideas. I can't snack on carrots all the time-boring!

Potatoes are low glycemic index and convert to glucose quickly. Not a good idea if you have yeast problems.
Sweet potatoes and squashes are a better option. Or just skip potatoes all together. I do some squashes as I need a bit more carbs as I am still underweight. Otherwise I would avoid them.
The best investment I have made recently is an good quality juicer. I make two glasses of green juice daily with and add some protein poweder such as hemp, egg or goatein
Other snacks. turkey sausage nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, macademia, pine nuts) almond butter or other nut butters with celery guacomole dip with vegetables hummus (may be too starchy for some) with vegetables Lara bars are yummy and "clean" in that they are free of allergins but have more carbs and sugar than one would want on an anticandida diet.
Avoid peanuts. They tend to be moldy with alfatoxins.

Thanks Lymetoo -- I am tired! Yes they are high glycemic index.
For some, like myself, extra carbs are needed. It's a balancing act and takes some trial and error. When I did just veggies and meat I had excess ketones in my urine.

Thanks folks for the ideas, I am actually on a diet for O-positive blood for highly stressed immune system. I cant eat peanuts but i can have and they push walnuts, almonds, so i can use those and make nut butter with that.
I went shopping for the first time today to find things that i could eat. Found some pretty good things, like pancake mix with no sugar, no gluten, and no wheat at all. It was made from brown rice and i also found brown rice pasta, no wheat. Diet said i could have brown rice products.
Also am going to try buckwheat pancakes and making break.
I wonder, do you kill the yeast when you bake with it.
I have been eating hemp bread, and its okay, the hemp tortillas i dont think i can take unless it has salad in it.
The Whole Approach website was great, and am going to try the every day site if it is online.
You know, we should be putting together a recipe book for this.
