Hi! I don't know about the effects of concerta on lyme, but I do know that it has helped me in regards to ADD immensely!
I was dx'd with ADD 4 years ago and prescribed concerta. I really do think it helps me to pay attention, to remember things, to accomplish things, etc.
My mom can generally tell in a 15 minute phone conversation if I haven't been taking it.
It takes me about 4 days after a stint of not taking it to get entirely used to it again, and it can be mildly unpleasant to start. I'd recommend, especially during this adjustment period, to avoid caffeine.
I'm not yet dx'd with lyme, but am awaiting test results. In the mean time, my LLMD put me on doxy (100 twice/day).
He didn't suggest that I stop the concerta or seem to think my taking it was any sort of problem, but he did say that magnesium might help in that aspect as well.
Good luck!

I'm asking for my daughter, who is positive for lyme.
We had thought she had add-and she was opposed to taking anything like ritalin which will, to quote, "change my personality"
She has neuro-lyme and will be starting doxy. Someone suggested trying concerta to offset a "brainfog" kind of herx.

My dd has taken many ADD/ADHD meds, but was taking concerta when she became ill. The doctors told her not to take the concerta. They just really didn't know what was going on and didn't want another drug in the mix!
Just last week had our first llmd appt. (Also a psycopharmocologist) He put her on Wellbutrin XL. Get this- for pain, brain fog, and depression. This drug and others like Cymbalta have many, many uses! My dd especially likes having less pills to take! She actually had taken Wellbutrin XL previously for ADD/ADHD with good results.
How old is your dd? Did you think she had ADD before being infected with lyme? My doctor prescribes straterra for me because it is not a stimulant. I was thinking concerta was somewhere in between.
Tell her ADD meds are like wearing glasses, they help you focus your "attention".
A properly diagnosed and correctly dosed stimulant for ADD/ADHD should not "change" her personality. However, years of untreated ADD/ADHD very well can bring about changes in her personality. I would bet neurolyme has brought about many changes in her personality! It has in my daughter's!
Good luck! Keep searching for answers!

Boy has it brought personality changes!!! Daughter is 14. May have had lyme from birth, as I am positive, and was misdiagnosed for 16 years.
Her so-called add-adhd has definitely downslided. Not apparent at all until about 5th grade. Very overwhelming and all-encompassing now in 9th grade.
I don't think she has had adhd forever. Think it developed over time, along with other symptoms of lyme. Hoping it improves wiith treatment.
