I haven't been this inquisitive since grade school! thank you for answering my many questions. I do a search first to avoid redundancy but still...NOTHING is clear cut..

Had a short phone consult with Dr.Z who suggested I might have Babs and need to start treating it as a co infection with ARTemisinin along with Lyme otherwise I won't get well.

Seems to be the general consensus. I don't know if I have babs..never had high temp, or rash...but I do have Toxo and see Art is one of the treatments (according to dr. z too) and scientific studies support it's efficacy despite not approved in US. Good enough for me.

I can't afford his lyme support protocol yet so he said start with this. And knows I have a script for amoxy and benecid which I will get tomorrow..and will order art.

Question: Is it best to stagger starting times so you know how your body is responding to meds/herbs?? I understand many herx on ART. I don't know the dose of his capsules..he said take one 3x /day. thanks

Well, I'm leery of you doing all of this without doc supervision.

The herx from the initial dose of abx can kick your butt. Add Art to that mix, and if you have babesia, OW, you are going to be one sorry puppy.

Yet not likely cured, on Art alone. Just wretched. :-(

100 mg. is a normal Art. capsule, but important to get high quality artemisinin, like Nutricology brand. Some have to start at 100 mg. per day and ramp up slowly.

I'm wishin you would postpone ALL of this till your LLMD appt.. Are you still keeping that?

Best,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,
see PM. and thank you for everyone's response. Yes it is scarey but I can't wait 3 months to start something...perhaps I will hold off on the ART. Just wish I could get a doc to do a phone consult with Dr. H. My neuro and PCP and doc who ordered the amoxy won't. I can't tell you how angry I am at the docs....but I guess all of you know. [Mad]

Oh Kumba, I feel your frustration.

Now, if you had a positive IGeneX test in hand (and I really suspect you WOULD!), you might have more luck getting your idiot ducks to shaddup and LISTEN. And maybe do as you reasonably ask, and consult, and treat per ILADS.

You almost need something to hit them over the head with, when they're non-LLMD's.

Absent a test, I'm thinkin your ducks are just gonna stick to their guns.

Of course, even with a positive test, you'll get the "two weeks of abx" IDSA garbage. That is, once you get past the "IGeneX gives all positives!" line of garbage (which is completely bunk).

You'll need to regularly do blood work and monitor stuff like liver panel numbers.

There's precious few of us who've been down our path without a need to connect with our LLMD - especially early in treatment. I'm just worried about you.

Can any family help you?

Can the retiring doc write a good report clinically dx'ing you and recommending a good treatment plan to include IGenex testing for coinfections plus regular bloodwork? As a parting gift? :-) Then perhaps a duck might be made to follow that plan?

We want you getting better!

[group hug]

Michelle

OH! I like that thinking!!!

Many if not most LLMD's treat the Lyme for at least a month or so before beginning the babs meds. It's a little easier on the body. You want to knock down some of the bacterial load first.

Also...Doesn't ART need to be paired with Zith or Biaxin??
