Hi Sandrat97

Sorry to hear about your Dad [Frown]

Neuro-lyme with memory loss & speach problems are common with lyme. Lyme is called "The Great Imitator" becuase it mimic alzheimers, MS , ALS and many other neurological disease's.

I had un treated lyme for many years also and my memory and speach where effected. I spent several years in treatment and now am much better.

3 years ago my hubby had to into my LLMD's appointment with me becuase I couldn't follow conversations and my speach was really bad.

But now it much better after treatment. But got much worse while I was herxing on the antibiotics. Alot of people get worse before they get better.

Has your doc tested your dad for co-infections? Most lyme pateints have at least one co-infection. When the tick bites you it transmitt many diease's along with lyme.

Go to the "newbie links" in medical and read some articles there on herxing and neuro problems and co-infections.

Here's a good weeb site with lots orf links to: www.wildcondor.com/lymelinks.html

Good luck with your Dad & hope he can feel better soon [group hug]
take care
Dana

Sandra,
I had memory loss at 30. I started a new job and after three months still could not recall the names of the people I worked with. There were only about 8 of us.

I am much better know, but there are periods when my symptoms get worse-usually when starting a new treatment.

Your father is fortunate to have a caring daughter. Know that he can get well, and hang in there if things get worse for a while.

Hi Sandra,

I don't know if it will get any better and they say brain cells continue to regenerate use or lose...at the same time, with age...it will potentially be more challenging. And at some point in my lyme, "use" was not even an option.

I also have this type of lyme where speech and words are affected but also I do not recognize faces of family or people I know or the very simplest of things and (variable, happens sometimes does not happen other times...do not know what triggers or alleviates it but overall, huge problem)

for the longest time thought it was some autistic spectrum aspect...

although now, with the urge to sleep...seems more like

simple closing down, alzheimers. Lots of other things associate with this like

deja vu and many other things.

Best wishes to you and your father.
