I am transferring ALL of my lyme files from a read only disc back to MS word...

We're talking 1500 files...one by one.

I almost have them all back into MS word and now I want to transfer them all to ONE read-write disc to give to a lyme patient TOMORROW. Once they are on a read-write disc, I should be able to duplicate the disc.

Is there anyway to do this fast? Get all 1500 MS word files onto the read-write disc in perhaps "groups"?

Sorry..I know this post shouldn't be here, but I need help tonight.

I am going to have to be taken thru the steps really slowly as I am not technically challenged.

Please, any computer gurus out there, PM me and I will be watching.

THANK YOU!

Marnie,

What type of CD writing software do you have?

If I know the answer does that make me a geek?

Marnie:

I'm feeling a bit sick tonight (so forgive me if this is unclear), but will give you the best answer that I can:

What is your operating system? Do you have a Windows platform (XP, 2000, etc.)?

If so, you should be able to click on Start, and then click on the "My Computer" icon.

That should bring up, in a separate drive
(for example, E:/, F:/, etc.) the disk that you are looking at.

From there, you should be able to click on the command "Edit", and then "Select All",

and copy all 1500 files at once (although it should take a few minutes, depending on your RAM), onto another drive, such as your computer hard drive.

Once there, you can copy them onto a R-W CD.

I hope that helps! I am posting it here instead of PMing you so that someone with better computer skills than I can add to it, amend, or generally clarify if that is needed.

Please post again and let us know if this works for you.

I hate computers! Yea...my lyme files are all on the CD-RW disc now, but it

won't let me delete a FEW files that are private (our Salvation Army donation list, a few of my hubby's business files, etc.).

It says the files are "read only". So what if they are read only...I should be able to throw them away, shouldn't I?

I couldn't highlight just a group at a time and try to avoid copying those I didn't want to ultimately end on the new disc.

And now..somehow...I messed up my MS word files which were in "Marty's documents" and now are on my "C" drive.

UGH! No fair laughing.
